Lincoln Gadson on OGD Overhead Garage Door

I am going to start with what I consider to be the good stuff. The customer service is very good the representative both times were very helpful and both service technicians. Now while I would love to give this company a 5 star rating I can’t. I contacted them back in January 2026 for some broken spring that opens and closes the garage. The technician came out and replaced the springs the door worked fine until about one week ago so I called again the service technician came out to replace yet another spring, however only one spring was put on when I initially bought my home it came with two. It has only been about a week and the garage door is still not closing properly and I am now out of about roughly $1200(both services calls). I am now having to only hope that the door will open and close like it should daily. I will add pictures when I return home for reference.

I don't know about their quality of work, but I know that there is at least one employee driving a company truck that doesn't need a license. He flew up behind me at approximately 11:25am this morning on the exit ramp coming off of Interstate 20 exit 98 in Camden SC. I turned left onto US 521 and was traveling the posted speed limit of 45 mph. A Ford F150 with their decal on it flew around me, cut me off without using a turn signal, then slammed on his brakes to turn left into the Circle K gas station. I'm driving an 18 wheeler, and he's lucky I was able to swerve into the right lane to avoid rear ending him. Why he couldn't stay behind me for another 50 yards is beyond me. He risked his life and others' because he was impatient. I would be livid as the owner of the company to know that this is how my employees are representing my company.

Had to call them out for a repair on their install of a new opener. It was just 2 bolts and lock washers and a door reprogram. They wanted to charge me $160 to repair their bad install. No thank you. The install was bad to begin with since the original installer didn't use lock washers to keep the arm from coming loose and didn't use wire nuts to secure wire connections and left a mess. I now see why they are so much cheaper than their competitors.

Lesson learned.

OGD don't try to 'make things right' by offering a phone number or something. You should have made it right by not trying to charge me for the repair.

This company website stated that it was Veterans owned company.

I contacted the OGD representative on Tuesday, December 1st and explained that I had a torsion spring break on our residence home. This company website stated that it was a Veterans owned company, and it came recommended from my local Home Depot. They were able to schelude me for the next day appointment (December 2, 2025), and stated that I would be given a free inspection.

I was contacted when their technician (Parker) was enroute to our home, so I was impressed with their communication. Parker was very professional and knowledgeable. He performed the inspection and gave me a free 30 day quote for replacement of the one broken torsion spring. I felt like their quote was extremely overpriced at $489.00, considering a new spring doesn't cost more than $100 from Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowe's.

I did agreed to get the work done, only because of my busy work schedule and upcoming travel plans. It literally only took the technician 45mins to complete the entire job (counting the free inspection), which I totally felt like they overcharged me considering the parts and labor didn't cost $489.00. If that is what a military guy got charged, I'd hate to see what they would have charged someone that wasn't military affiliated.

But, as I told Parker this could be an very easy DIY project with the help of YouTube. When I asked if they did anything for the military, Parker said they could give me their $50 dollar online coupon to help reduce the overall price. So I was charged $439 in total after the coupon because I paid by personal check. If the customer wants to pay with credit card, be advised that there is an additional charge for that convenience per the fine print of my free quote.

I was glad to get my garage door back working, but I don't know if I would recommend OGD to my neighbors, friends, or family. I always try to support Veterans owned businesses, but I truly think that $489 for an 1 hour job was very overpriced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common calls include broken torsion or extension springs, frayed or off-track cables, noisy or binding rollers and hinges, and opener or sensor problems. Technicians also handle door balance, weatherseal replacement, and routine safety tune-ups.

Scheduling is available every day and many repairs can be handled the same day, depending on call volume and parts availability. Calling early helps secure earlier arrival windows. The team carries common springs and opener components to speed repairs.

Pricing is discussed after inspection and before work begins, based on parts, labor, and the specifics of your door and opener. Technicians can outline repair versus replacement options so you can choose what works best for your budget.

Technicians service most major opener brands and models for common issues like sensors, travel limits, gears, and wiring. If a unit is obsolete or unsafe to repair, they can recommend compatible replacement options.

Avoid operating the door, as it can strain the opener and create a safety risk. Do not attempt to adjust springs yourself. Call to schedule service; a technician will secure the door, replace the springs, and test balance and safety features.
