Technician Will with OGD did a great job today. Was very efficient and explained our options and cost in timely manner. Our springs needed to be changed and he adjusted them for us and made sure our garage door was working properly. He went above and beyond what was expected. Ask for Will he’ll do a great job! Highly recommend.
Some kid shows up at my house in plain clothes, no card, no sign on his truck, no T-shirt with any logo. Could be anybody. Then says he needs to do an estimate and check it all out. He spent 5 minutes typing on his phone before he he knocks on my garage door and gives me a verbal quote of his two “packages”. The cheep package was $459 to repair the door and lubricate it and comes with a 30 day warranty. I said “stop right there…nope. Goodbye”. The next thing he says is he needs his $59 service fee to write up the estimate, which again was verbal after spending all of two minutes looking at it. I told him to pound sand and get off my property. So, it took me about twenty minutes to figure out what the problem was and fix it myself. Garage doors are heavy, but is just a spring pulling two cables to help lift the door. My wife did most of the lifting with one hand while I put some tension on the spring using the cable and reattached it to the garage door. And I just sprayed some WD-40 on the hinges and rollers. Anyways, 20 minutes of work at $459 is almost $1400 for an hourly rate. Not sure about you, but I call that excessive. OGD would be the last people I call.
My door is old and needs hinges replaced. I called your company because you advertise door repair. I was told that my hinges could not be replaced because they did not carry that type of hinge. They would not fix the door but offered only to sell me a new door price for the least expensive door around 3,000. I also needed the strip at the bottom of the door replaced but he did not bring stripping with him even though I had requested replacement when I called for service. I was also told they would call before they came but did not.I declined replacement and had to pay $59.00 bench charge. A lot of for 20 minutes of conversation.
For the work that was done I thought the pricing was outrageous. The young man was extremely professional however the price that he was told to quote was unbelievable.All he did was to spray lubricant on the wheel and track of the frame.Then he unplugged a switch from the control box.The price was $270 +.Will never use your services again.
