We had such a wonderful experience working with this homebuilder from start to finish. The entire team was incredibly patient, easy to work with, and truly took the time to listen to our ideas. Davey, our foreman, was outstanding, his attention to detail, communication, and ability to bring everything together made the process smooth and stress-free. He helped turn our thoughts and dreams into reality, and we couldn’t be happier with the final result. This house is everything we hoped for and more, and we’re so grateful to now call it our forever home.

My experience with DRHI has been exceptional from start to finish. The quality of the home, the attention to detail, and the outstanding customer service made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. Jamie has been absolutely amazing to work with; knowledgeable, patient, and truly committed to making sure every step went perfectly. My house is truly a home, one that I can see being cared for and cherished for generations upon generations. I am grateful for the professionalism and dedication shown throughout the journey, and I highly recommend DRHI to anyone looking for a beautifully built home and a team that genuinely stands behind their work.

Angie Volkmer on Dave Richards Homebuilding

As a Realtor, my goal is to ensure my clients get the house they dreamed of, which in this case, they did! At the beginning of the process, I try very hard to set expectations and I always tell my clients to expect delays and to "trust the process", as everyone is working towards the same goal, to deliver a gorgeous home. As with all new custom construction builds, we experienced some issues that needed the builder's attention. In each case, Davey Richards personally took the issues seriously and resolved them to my client's satisfaction. A couple of the issues, which were not a result of anything the builder did (gas line was buried 20 feet vs the normal 10 feet and cabinet stain did not match what client had chosen), caused delays in closing (very common in new construction). There was a communication issue with the driveway/lot, which resulted in a steeper drive than the client wanted, which also caused some delay, but the clients accepted the driveway as something that could not be changed. I was impressed at how accessible Davey and his staff were and how quickly they addressed each issue. One thing I learned is to tell clients not to go look at the house daily or multiple times a week. Doing this caused a lot of extra stress for my clients, as they would see something that was in process, not the finished product. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend DRHI to any client going forward. The home my clients got is gorgeous, is exactly what they dreamed of and they're very happy!

CONTINUED REVIEW…We found out later that Dave Richards has to use Wade Fitzmaurice because that’s who the developer uses. This started to drive a wedge between us and Dave Richards. We had a meeting with Davey (Dave Richards son and general foreman for our house) and Wade. We came to an understanding with the driveway. Driveway is still steep because Wade lied to us and Dave Richards never knew what Wade had said to us.

After that meeting Davey pulled me and my wife aside and said these famous words “Trust the Process” because of everything we went through with the driveway and them not being able to find the sewer line (sewer lines are suppose to be 10 feet deep) ours was 20 feet deep. The closing date was now pushed back to September 4th.

After Davey took over the very next week the cabinets were installed and stained. My wife took her mom over to see the house and we were completely shocked (cabinets were all stained the wrong color) blood is starting to boil at this point. Davey was shocked also. The painter made a mistake. Not Dave Richards fault but yes he did hire the subcontractors. Wade said they were going to try and fix the problem by stripping the stain and that they would not replace the cabinets. Davey stepped up to the plate replaced all the cabinets at their expense. Once again Wade had no idea what he was talking about (what a shock) To replace all of the cabinets was going to set the closing back once again. Now we’re closing on October 16th. We’re not happy at all because we sold our hose on July 31st.

Davey came once again to my wife and I and promised us that I’m going to build you a beautiful house. To say this was a process was the biggest understatement since “Noah said hey guys it looks like rain”. You might think after reading this that they deserve a much lower rating. Let me tell you something. Most things that went wrong with this build had nothing to do with Dave Richards. Sewer lines being 20” deep as opposed to 10” deep was not there fault. Wade continuing to lie to us was not Dave Richards fault (they were stuck with him) the painter staining all the cabinets the wrong color was not Dave Richards fault. If I could say one thing negative towards Dave Richards, maybe they should have better communication with their sub contractors.

To sum it all up, Davey kept his promise and built us a beautiful house. If I had to build another house, my first and only call would be to Dave Richards. The Dave Richards team was great to work with. Yes we had our ups and downs but I believe you will have that with any builder. Davey keep doing what you’re doing and as soon as dad retires this company will be in great hands with you steering the ship! We went with the Carlson 4 bedroom and 3 bathrooms with a walkout basement.

We started this process back on December 3rd when we signed the contract to build our forever home. My wife is a hospice nurse and she made her parents a promise that they would never go to a nursing home and that she would take care of them. My wife and I have been married for a year and a half and I think it was very admirable that she wanted to take care of them. Their health started to decline after we got married. We started looking for a house that would accommodate all of us. We needed a ranch house with a full basement for my wife and I to live in. We couldn’t find one that met all of our needs. My wife mentioned “how about building a house.” I really wasn’t for it at first but warmed up to after about a week. We reached out to our realtor (Angie Volkmer) to help us find a builder. We decided to use Dave Richards.

We did our due diligence and read all the reviews. They were not positive. We started second guessing ourselves. We prayed about it and decided to stick with Dave Richards. The first sit down with DRHI, we told Dave our needs, a walkout basement with a master suite and a laundry hook up in the unfinished basement. Dave took it up a notch and gave us a nice master suite a beautiful bathroom and a big walk-in closet and a laundry room.

So now the real process begins. Our closing date is July 31st. They break ground on January 25th. We were beyond excited. First of all let me remind everyone that there’s no such thing as a perfect house and we found this out. The first set back was the driveway. It was suppose to be close to flat as possible and it wasn’t even close ( it’s one of the steepest in the neighborhood) this is due to the Dave Richards realtor (Wade Fitzmaurice) Wade is a used car salesman at best. He tells you what ever you want to hear and never tells you the truth.

We found out later that Dave Richards has to use Wade Fitzmaurice because that’s who the developer uses. REVIEW CONTINUED, SEE OTHER POSTS
