I had a very poor experience with Drees Design Dallas, specifically with the design manager, Crystal. When I escalated documented contradictions I received from her design team and the market manager regarding vanity cabinetry and the patio door, Crystal did not respond at all.A complete lack of response from design leadership after issues are formally raised is unacceptable. Silence is not a resolution. It is rude, unprofessional, and shows a disregard for the customer, especially during a major financial purchase like a new home.Clear communication could have resolved these issues quickly, but instead they were ignored. This experience significantly added to the stress of the build process and reflects poorly on Drees’ design leadership. I would not recommend working with this design team.
Our experience with Drees has been a journey. After 2 years of ownership, I can confidently say Drees Homes cares about quality and workmanship. We purchased and built during a peak time and it has taken time and persistent, factual & courteous communications on our end to find resolution to a few significant items throughout our ownership experience. Sales experience was great, design experience was great. For homes in the $800k and up price range the construction quality is no different than DR Horton. We’re on month two of trying to get 1yr warranty items resolved and when building they poured a defective driveway that erodes with each sweeping or rain storm, it’s less that 4” thick and all the rebar is under the concrete not suspended in it - only response has been - “That’s cosmetic” and “psi is fine so we won’t do anything”
Had a great experience at the Drees Design Center! We had Liz working with us and she was a huge asset in this process. It is our 3rd design center in recent years, each with a different builder. As with anything, nicer and more is not cheaper. We thought a lot of upgrades were a little more than we would have hoped but most were easy enough to justify or leave out without feeling like it was a huge loss. There were so many items and options that were offered. They really can make your home custom to you. It's not just color and material selections like we've experienced in the past. They add another dimension compared to others. It made us wonder why our previous builders never offered some of the options that were presented to us. If you build with Drees, budget a little extra for the design center. They are going to give you options like no other to make your home really pop. You will actually look forward to your visits. Liz had unbelievable follow up and was 100% accommodating. I will be afraid not to go with Drees should we ever build again and I will ask for Liz at the design center!
