Your house is beautiful and I'm looking at my DREAM house ? maybe I'll buy one in the fall, I'm waiting for the results and especially keeping an eye out for house sales!!
I thought I'd had a great discussion with the project manager, but after a follow-up call, I realized he wasn't listening to me at all. The initial project estimate over the phone was within my budget, but most of the important points I wanted adjusted or added hadn't been noted or taken into account.Suddenly, the project is nearly $100,000 over budget, and I'm told that ultimately "it will depend on the materials," so there will definitely be further "cost overruns" since nobody builds a half-million-dollar house using floating wood throughout.I truly don't understand why the construction industry can't be transparent and constantly tries to take advantage of its clients.Back to square one for my project!
I have nothing but good things to say about Maison Laprise! I've personally assembled several of their homes, and they've always gone smoothly; they're easy to assemble, the plans are clear and very detailed, and the quality control inspector, Philippe, is truly excellent. I recommend them to everyone without hesitation!
Purchase of a townhouse built by Maison Laprise. Result: lies, changes to materials without informing me, no after-sales service. Story: I bought a house that supposedly had 9-foot ceilings and a suspended ceiling in the basement... Three days before the closing date, they postponed it because the house wasn't ready (they suggested I live there with the workers). When the walkthrough finally arrived, they had changed the basement flooring because it was backordered, but they hadn't consulted me. The ceilings are now 8 feet, the basement ceiling is drywall, there's a freestanding sink in the basement instead of a vanity unit with a quartz countertop as promised, and many other surprises... The saleswoman, Alexandra, denies what she said when I signed the contract, and I realize she's pulled the same trick on several neighbors after talking to them. During the discussion with project manager Sébastien, even though the salesperson said all these things, no refund was possible, nor could they change the flooring, for example. He told me they were making a minimal profit and that there was nothing they could do, adding that I should consider myself lucky to have paid so little for a house at that price. After some time, when I needed a service covered by the warranty, no one seemed to know who was responsible for handling service calls related to our construction. We had to insist and insist to get even minimal service. It's an exhausting situation...
