Recent reviews are mixed. Positive comments mention appealing design choices and enjoyable model home tours. Critical feedback focuses on warranty follow-up, communication gaps, and unresolved punch-list items after closing. Buyers frequently note the importance of documenting details and timelines during the build process.
My clients always love it when I take them through Chesmar homes. You can really see the design difference that sets them apart from other builders in the neighborhood. I’m excited to be working with Chesmar now on a new build or some wonderful friends.
We walked away from our deposit after losing confidence in Chesmar.Persistent issues from May 2025 onward led us to forfeit our deposit and look elsewhere.Early visits to the Design Center yielded friendly and enthusiastic, yet inconsistent, and often incorrect information from our New Home Consultant (e.g., incorrect site map details, lack of knowledge on what options were available and what they cost). Our original sales person lacked knowledge and detail. For example we picked all of our designs dowb to grout colors, got our order to sign and things were completely wrong, even grout colors. Luckily we took pics and was able to remember what we originally picked for our design. After sending a detailed letter to the VP of sales about our exasperating experience, a more knowledgeable specialist was assigned and she was very helpful, but issues persisted - largely due to business process issues, outdated technology, and poor upper managementOur newly assigned sales person was absolutely great, she should be in upper management. The people running Chesmar Austin now make very poor decisions, unorganized, and need more of a streamlined process. Buyers beware. The brickwork on our home showed gaps, uneven rows, and inconsistent mortar application. And this took it over the top for us. The poor workmanship in brick work was unacceptable and the sloppiest brick work I have ever seen on any home i have purchased. We paid $10,000 for glass upper cabinets in the kitchen. At our last walkthrough, I was surprised to see that the number of lights is different on the left and right side of the cabinets. This lack of attention to detail will live in the house forever, to remind the owners how much Chesmar cared about delivering a good customer experience. Another sloppy thing that added to an undesirable experience. There is no reason to give Chesmar Homes a second opportunity to correct something that they had specifications and money to do correctly the first time. Lack of detail was rampant.Construction flaws, confusion, unmet promises, and poor communication led us to walk away.Better off choosing Taylor Morrison, Perry Homes or Westin Homes.
Worst warranty service!Almost everyone in our neighborhood with Chesmar homes is facing problems. They promised a 1-year warranty, but whenever we raise a complaint, they take forever to respond—or sometimes just close the ticket without fixing anything. In Santa Rita, the warranty supervisor Tony doesn’t care about customer service. He never replies properly and doesn’t communicate well. For example, I reported a crack in my sink. After 4 weeks, Tony finally showed up and said it’s not covered under warranty. This is a brand-new home, yet it already has gaps and issues. Even my microwave stopped working, and it’s been 4 weeks with no solution. It’s not just me—many of my neighbors with Chesmar homes are facing the same issues. Truly the worst warranty service ever
Hello, please beware when you are purchasing a home with Chesmar. Why you ask well let me just say it is pouring raining in the Georgetown area right now and my drive way is filled with water and I was told that they will not do anything about it if it drains within 36 hours, but what if it rains for 36 hours then what do i do just get out my truck and step into a puddle of water every time. My 2 neighbors homes next to me you tore up their driveways and rebuilt them before they moved in and when i ask you guys about it and you said my driveway would be fine but it is not and now i just have to live with it. You are crazy!!!!! I spent 500k on this home and I literally have a pond in my driveway when it rains that I have to wait at least 36 hours for it to drain. Please don't talk about the mulch I have on the side of the driveway because you put it there when you built the home. Not Me!!!! I know this will not change anything but I'm just bringing awareness to future customers. IF YOUR DRIVEWAY HAS A DIP IN IT HAVE THEM REDO IT BEFORE YOU MOVE IN BECAUSE YOU WILL RUN INTO THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE A POND IN YOUR DRIVEWAY AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT AFTER THE FACT!!!!! STAY WOKE!!!!
Build quality does not meet with price point and post sale, the only focus Chesmar seems to have is how to save money by saying no to fixing their own mistakes.I've now gone through three different construction managers, each of which leave and no one follows up on my outstanding issues. I am left following up with them to get their attention again and marginally start over.If you do buy a Chesmar home, do not sign anything until each and every issue you see is fixed no matter what a construction manager tells you. Here is my current list and how things are being handled:- Countertops installed without removing fiberglass in exposed areas - Chesmar fixed this where I have two seating areas but nowhere else as they did not want to deal with any cabinet damage (for fixing their own mistake)- Front yard was not graded properly - construction manager told me they almost rolled their ankle when walking my property, sought to get this fixed, and was rejected by "leadership" because I did not stop the closing to address this issue- No ability to shut off my irrigation system for freeze protection, no shutoff valve installed (or no one can find it at least) - still no response from Chesmar as the third manager I have has left a month plus after notifying them.I did not purchase an inexpensive home and my asks of this business to stand behind their product have been more than reasonable (and confirmed as such by every construction manager I have worked with). Unfortunately, this means I have to recommend to anyone purchasing a new home that they look elsewhere or make sure you do not sign anything until you see every single issue fixed. Then check again.
