WES RUINED MY FIRST TIME HOME BUYING EXPERIENCE!!!! I was eyeing a brand new home since January when the building process started. Anyway, come beginning June, i went to go see the house in person and I decided to finally jump on it. On the listing the house was supposed to be finished in June but obviously with the pandemic, the date was pushed back but that wasn’t a problem with me. Listing was updated with a finished date at the end of July. Buyer contracts were signed and the buying process was so easy. I was super excited and obviously loved the house and visited it almost every week. It was already the beginning of August and my closing date was scheduled for August 13th. The house still wasn’t finished and my interest rate was expiring. My agent explained to his agent that they would have to pay to extend my interest rate because they weren’t doing their part with finishing the home on time but his agent came back to us saying Wes refuses to pay. I should’ve just taken that as the first sign to back out. My agent ended up saying that he would take care of paying for my interest rate extension from his commission because that wasn’t my fault either. One week before closing, my brother calls me informing that he had found out from Wes told him while walking the property for me that our well was built on a lot that wasn’t our property, that’s when it went down hill. They never disclosed that information to me in the beginning!!!! My mortgage officer told me that I had the right to make them dig up the well and put it on our property but of course Wes REFUSED once again. Instead, Wes told my brother that he would just sell us that small piece of lot which first price he said was $4000 then changed it to $5000 all in one sentence. I was okay with buying the lot because come on more yard and more value in the future but I wanted to wait on buying it because I was already putting money down for the house. He was clearly MONEY HUNGRY and wanted me to buy it right away. My agent drew up a offer for the piece of lot which was for $4k.. AGAIN Wes refused and wanted 5k with INTEREST!!!!! At that point I was emotionally frustrated and exhausted with fighting for something that wasn’t my fault so I backed out!!! Once my agent called his agent to tell him we were backing out, that’s when his agent wanted to finally work something out, I said no I refuse to trust y’all. But let me tell you, you want to know what Wes did after I backed out, they updated the listing to go back on the market to include the extra lot and changed the price up to $4000!!!!!!! He refused to give it to me for $4000 but updates the listing for that amount. It’s now December and I still haven’t found a house!!! I WILL NEVER WORK WITH SOMEONE LIKE THESE TWO!!!!!!!
I feel like we spent more fixing issues than building the house. Not a very "hands on" experience. Many of our contractors besides the ones I personally hired never met our builder and the ones that did made their own schedule and had a plenty of re-work. It took almost three months to meet our forrman and that made little difference. From my experience, I would not recommend.
Wes has built 5 houses for me and has always taken care of any problems we had immediately . Wes has been building in St. Tammany parish for over 20 years. He doesn't run from a problem if there is one. He fix's it even if it costs him money. This is why I use custom craft homes.
Update- they took care of everything I asked. I would like to change this rating to a higher rating. Thank you custom craft for taking care of the problems we requested to be fixed.
