Whalen Custom Homes provided a great experience when we built a Sunset Hills custom home in 2020.We were completely new to the entire concept of home building and Mike Whalen assisted us every step of the way. I am a cautious person, my profession involves risk management on a daily basis - so I consulted with a variety of other builders during my initial research phase and even concurrently spent $5000 with another builder to reach a custom home quote... all in order to get comfortable that I was going to find a trustworthy builder before committing.Mike and his team take a personal interest in your project and we ended up meeting several of his family members throughout the process. We hit some unexpected challenges with our site and Mike personally dove in and helped get us back on track.We are very satisfied with the final product. I don't plan on building another custom home, but if I did, I would go with Whalen again without reservation.
Our construction started a few weeks ago and it’s been amazing to see how much progress has been made already! Designing, and now building, our home with Whalen has been an exciting experience. We heard great things about Mike and his team and couldn’t be happier with the process. There wasn’t any pressure or feeling as though they were out to make a sale. Full transparency - I’m extremely picky, somewhat indecisive, full of questions (dare I say high maintenance?) and had requested several changes. Not the ideal situation for a builder but we were always provided thorough explanations and changes that could be accommodated, were made. They’ve built all over STL, are knowledgeable with each municipalities rules/restrictions, and could tell us exactly why a few requests wouldn’t be approved. From what we witnessed and experienced, they invest the time to get to know their clients and provide honest feedback. If you want a no pressure, stress-free experience, I highly recommend building with Whalen Custom Homes!

We are so glad we found Whalen Custom Homes and our beautiful new villa in Autumn Glen! We love our open floor plan, as being a part of the family dynamic while cooking in the kitchen is a perk we have always wanted and are truly enjoying. The experience we had with everyone associated with Whalen Custom Homes felt so comfortable and relaxing; we think it was due to the fact that the "office" is actually one of the display homes and our meetings were around the dining room table, mimicking the feel of a large family gathering. Making the huge decision to sell our home and purchase a villa was made in a very friendly and soothing atmosphere, as were the subsequent times we met to select our interior design packages. The result is a quality home that is beautiful, functional, cozy and unique. Oh, and we can't forget to mention that we waited a long time for the convenience of a main floor laundry room and love it! We genuinely want to thank the Whalens for their integrity throughout the process and for delivering on their pledge to provide us with a quality product to call home. Our new villa is gorgeous and we are looking forward to winter nights in front of the fire.
