Recent reviews highlight clear communication, responsiveness, and projects finished within expected timelines, especially for kitchen, bath, and whole-home updates. Several customers mention fair, transparent pricing and tidy workmanship. There are also critical reviews describing disputes over workmanship and costs on a complex roof and rooftop addition project. Overall feedback trends positive but with a few strongly negative experiences on specialized scopes.

I rarely write reviews, but after our experience with Teabow Residential, LLC, I feel obligated to share the facts of our experience.

My wife and I hired Teabow for a residential renovation project at our home in Washington, DC that included a full roof replacement due to an ongoing leak and the design of what we hoped would become a half-enclosed rooftop addition. Teabow represented itself as a design-build contractor capable of managing drawings, permitting, and construction in compliance with DC regulations. We relied on those representations.

We worked with Teabow for months developing drawings and plans for our rooftop project. During that time, we incurred substantial design costs and went through multiple revisions. While this design process was ongoing, the roof continued to leak.

Dr. Bowman recommended that we pursue a “postcard permit” to replace the roof immediately and complete certain interior work (including running water and sewage lines to the roof), and then later go through the formal permitting process to complete the full rooftop remodel. We agreed, and Teabow’s team completed the roof replacement and interior work. We were also advised to consider purchasing a door costing more than $15,000 for the anticipated final build-out.

After that time and expense, we were later informed that the rooftop design we had been working toward would not be permitted under applicable DC requirements. That was our first significant concern. Shortly thereafter, the roof leaked again.

We notified Teabow promptly. What followed were repeated site visits and attempted repairs. Despite months of back-and-forth, the roof continued to leak. As the problem persisted, we retained an independent third-party engineering firm to inspect the roof and determine the source of the continued leak. According to their written report, multiple roofing and flashing details installed by Teabow were improperly installed and inconsistent with industry standards. The independent firm ultimately corrected the leak.

At that point — with a roof that required corrective work, significant funds spent on designs and plumbing work that could not be used as originally planned, and interior drywall damage, we terminated our contract. To date, we have paid Teabow $52,618. We sent a formal demand letter and attempted to reach a financial resolution. After several months, including delays and a 30-minute in-person meeting at their request, Teabow offered $5,000 to resolve the matter.

We are now pursuing arbitration in an effort to recover the funds necessary to properly repair our home.

This review reflects our direct experiences and is provided to share factual information with other homeowners.

In our opinion, we would never hire Teabow for anything nor recommend them to anyone.

Maggie Aaron on Teabow Residential

Based on my experience with Teabow Residential, LLC, I do not understand how the company has any positive reviews at all.

My husband and I hired Teabow Residential, LLC for a renovation project that ultimately resulted in substandard workmanship and significant additional costs to us - while the company has provided no reasonable solution.

An independent third-party engineering firm (Building Envelope Consultants & Scientists, BECS) concluded that Teabow’s work was not installed in compliance with industry standards and that multiple critical roofing and flashing details were improperly executed, failing to address the leak they were hired to address.

Teabow acknowledged issues with the roofing subcontractor they hired for the work (unbeknownst to us) but did not provide a timely or effective fix. More concerning, the firm missed every deadline—both those we set and those Teabow itself proposed—to resolve the issue. While Dr. Bowman repeatedly stated he was “working on it,” no concrete progress or resolution was delivered.

Teabow finally made an settlement offer of $5,000 and argued " It's time for us to move on in life." We would love to move on ourselves, but, we still have an improperly installed roof and holes in our drywall. We will be forced to pursue arbitration to recover the funds needed to correct these issues.

So, in summary, if my friends or family asked me about Teabow.... I would say to RUN!
