Don't waste your money! We called them out Friday night and could tell right away that the technician had no idea what he was doing. After an hour he hadn't even hooked the gauges up to the unit. He charged us $129 "diagnosis fee" and left with no diagnosis and the unit still not cooling. We had a second company come out on Sunday and had it fixed in 5 minutes. It was low on freon.
I called the dispatcher back on Friday night to let them know that we were not happy with the technician. She said she would send the manager a message. No one bothered to contact me

I chose Smart Heating & Cooling because of their strong Google reviews. My AC system stopped working, and I contacted the company for a service call.

When I first called, I was told that the diagnostic fee would be $129. I said I needed some time to think about it. Later, I visited their website and saw a $39 AC diagnostic special. I called back and spoke with a different representative who confirmed that the $39 diagnostic was available Monday through Saturday. Based on that information, I scheduled an appointment.

The technician arrived on Monday at 10:00 AM. After inspecting the system for about 15 minutes, he provided a repair estimate of $350. However, he did not explain what was wrong with the AC system or what repair was needed. Because I was not given any explanation of the problem, I decided not to proceed with the repair and only paid the $39 diagnostic fee.

While processing the payment on his phone, I noticed that both my name and email address were entered incorrectly. I asked him to correct the information and also requested a copy of the diagnostic report and my payment receipt. He said he would take care of it, but I never received anything.

I later called the office and learned that the incorrect email address had never been corrected. I had to provide the correct information again and request my receipt. I also asked for the diagnostic report from the AC inspection. The office staff told me it had already been sent, but I checked again and never received it. They then said they would contact the technician and have him send it.

The office staff were professional and helpful when I called. My main concern was with the technician's communication. In my experience, when a technician diagnoses a problem, they should explain what is wrong with the system and what repairs are recommended before presenting a price. In this case, I was simply given a repair estimate without any explanation of the issue, which made it difficult to make an informed decision.

Overall, the office staff were courteous and responsive, but I believe communication from the technician could have been much better.

Spencer and Nate were wonderful. They arrived when they were scheduled, were very thorough in explaining my options, and efficient in making the needed repairs. They provided some additional recommendations but weren't pushy about it and didn't use any scare tactics to sell unneeded work. I replaced my old AC system with Smart Heating & Cooling and I can't say enough good things about them. They did a fantastic job start to finish, punctual, professional and knowledgeable. I live in an older condo and had some odd electrical issues but they were able to troubleshoot and resolve that as well. Thank you to Ani and the entire staff. Highly recommend.

Spencer and his partner did a thorough job on our routine AC maintenance and patiently explained any issues. They were on time, professional and kept things clean. As a bonus, I learned some things about our unit. Communication surrounding the appointment from the company was easy and helpful.

They just finished my full home renovation, electric full re-wire, pex plumbing in the whole house, all new drywall, tile floors, kitchen, bathrooms, you name it. This was a FEMA flood so they completely gutted the home. It turned out better than I could have imagined. The difference with contractors is attention to detail and knowing what the end process is.

A lot of the construction people I've worked with don't know how it all ties together so they make decisions based on what they know now - then 2 months later you need to cut open your drywall because it wasn't planned properly.

I cant recommend SBC enough for your home rebuild or new build. I will be using them again. Its all under one roof and they know what they are doing. You get what you pay for!

John was kind, friendly and thorough. He inspected my AC system inside and out and educated me on proper maintenance and needed repairs. I verified his recommendations and will be using Smart going forward. Other companies just canceled on me or rescheduled last minute, likely because they couldn’t sell me a new system in the spot. After two such cancellations from a large local company I contacted John at Smart.

Update: Had John out again and he replaced 2 UV bulbs and cleaned the outside unit. My dryer vent lint had clogged it pretty bad. Great job! Looks like new! Looking forward to the savings! Before and after pics below. Great price, excellent work!
