Updated: One-Star Review: Based on Factual Experience and Confirmed Practices This review details my direct experience with Rescue Air Heating and A/C, focusing strictly on quotes, comparative pricing, and standard HVAC practices confirmed by a separate licensed professional. On 9/19, my A/C failed. Rescue Air was dispatched via my home warranty. On 9/22, the technician confirmed a failed blower motor, quoting: • Blower Motor: $1,160 • Blower Wheel Cleaning: $440 • Chemical Cleaning of Condenser Coil: $440 • Drain Line EZ Trap: $425 • UV Light: $710 • Total Quote: $3,175 Note: All Rescue Air staff were respectful and polite; the technician wore shoe coverings. On 9/23, my home warranty claim was denied based on Rescue Air's finding that the motor failed due to system strain from a dirty blower wheel and coil. The $3,175 quote was sent the same day. ________________________________________ Clarifying Repair and Cleaning Charges I sought a second opinion immediately. That technician confirmed the motor failure and quoted $685 total for a new OEM motor, capacitor, and labor (a professional, warrantied service). Regarding the $440 "Blower Wheel Cleaning" fee, I confirmed with the second company: • Blower Assembly removal is mandatory to access and replace the motor. This step requires no additional charge. (Photo attached shows assembly removal required.) • Based on minimal dirt, the cleaning would use only compressed air and is typically included in motor replacement labor—not a separate $440 fee. • They found no mold or contamination justifying specialized chemical disinfectants. This is akin to paying $1,160 for an oil change plus an extra $440 just to unscrew, wipe, and replace the drain plug. ________________________________________ Comparative Pricing Analysis The second company noted a new capacitor (approx. $20 part) should always be replaced with a new motor. The $1,160 Rescue Air quote included the part, ordering, pickup, return, installation, labor, and a one-year labor warranty. For maintenance: Rescue Air recommended a one-time $865 cost for similar cleaning services. By contrast, the second company offers bi-annual maintenance plans covering coil and drain line cleaning for just $129/year (cancellable anytime). I researched the OEM motor (Model No. GMH80805CNBB) and found it available online starting around $140. To maintain factual accuracy, I confirmed with Rescue Air that the part they quoted was indeed an OEM Blower Motor. I understand markup is necessary, but the increase from a researched online price (starting around $140) to the quoted $1,160, even with warranty and logistics included, still represents a significant increase. My one-star rating is based solely on the factual experience, the diagnostic report, the attached quote, and the direct verification of standard industry practices. This verification confirms removing the Blower Assembly is necessary to access the motor, and the minor cleaning required could be done with compressed air. I encourage readers to review, make their own conclusion, and do your own research. You can easily Google the cost of a blower motor for Model No. GMH80805CNBB and comparable services. Based on my quotes, Rescue Air's total quote was $3,175 (which included $710 for a UV light as preventative maintenance), while Company 2 quoted $685 for the core motor replacement. For maintenance, compare Rescue Air's one-time cleaning quote of $865 against typical bi-annual maintenance plans, which often range from $69 to $179 and can be canceled anytime. Lastly, I would like to note that every person I spoke to and interacted with at Rescue Air was respectful and polite. Furthermore, the technician was respectful of my home and wore shoe coverings when entering and exiting.
