I’m 72 and my professional career has been transient. I’ve used dozens of movers. Sadly, I can’t recall a worse experience than with East Coast Moving. During loading, a prized antique drum table had its side drawer fall to the floor because no one looked to see if the table had a side drawer before lifting it. When it fell, it damaged not only the table, but also the flooring. Also during loading, I advised the crew to move the large stuffed armchair in the back bedroom by first removing the bedroom door. But no, two crewman tried to manhandle it through the doorway. No harm to the chair, but the wall plaster was gauged and the paint scratched. On arrival at my new residence, I made eight damage claims: the damaged antique drum table, a foot broken off another antique table, veneer chipped off an antique headboard, a finial broken off an antique chair, water stains on an antique corner what-not, a glass rail broken off a rare antique picture frame, two chipped antique plates, etc. It was always the valuable antiques that were damaged. Then there are the minor scratches that don’t warrant a claim but are annoying nonetheless. Don’t make my mistake and submit your claim too hastily. Only one official claim for damages is permitted. I later found more damage. And guess what? As I am typing this, I just received a call from East Coast’s claims adjuster telling me she can’t find anybody in the Kitchener-Waterloo region (where I have moved) to do any of the antique repairs. Instead, I get a cheque and am responsible for getting the repairs done myself. What a joke. Waterloo and its surrounding communities - like St. Jacobs - are renowned for its furniture makers and furniture restorers. My advice? Avoid East Coast Moving altogether.
Have had no issues - great communication. Would recommend. Driver was very friendly and helpful. Thank you to all who helped.
Need to hire better drivers. Hit a bridge in my community and now can’t get to work without a 3 hour drive around the long way. Do not hire these people
It's been over a month they have a dishwasher to replace. Scheduling with this company has been a night mare. Finally today we where scheduled delivery between 2 and 4. I was late 10 mins. The driver said ok and said he would come back at the end of his deliveries. The one who answered the phone called me a liar. The second person schedule me between 8am and 9am Monday. If Monday they don't show up. It's not going to be pretty.
We recently moved from Ontario to New Brunswick and are happy we chose East Coast Movers for the job. Roger met with us virtually, and was very thorough with his estimate so there were no surprises when we received the final bill -- it actually ended up being a bit lower than quoted. He also took into account our personal situation, and went the extra mile to arrange for us to receive our items faster than originally anticipated. Once on site, Fred and the other movers were efficient and professional. We absolutely recommend this moving service.
