The valve that controls the water flow to the ice maker in the refrigerator failed and was leaking. The plumber gave us two ways of dealing with the problem, one of which was much less expensive but would be an interim repair. We chose the cheaper version, which works fine.
Michael and his helper did a wonderful job replacing old pipes under our 1840's house and basement also replaced sink, faucet and supply line in laundry room. My husband and I really appreciated all their work. Definitely go to business for plumbing and heating.
I called BB and the dispatch told me $115/hr, have your credit card ready. Ok, np.Tech showed up quickly - I was happy about that. Seemed knowledgeable. He found the leak and then "found" another problem with the hvac which he fixed without asking (and charged me for) and also broke a part which thankfully I had a spare on hand otherwise he'd have to go to the "supply house" where I'll be paying $115/hr for him to drive to.But here's where it goes south. He told me the total was $421. That's was surprising considering he was onsite for 2.5hrs and $115X2.5 is less than $300. He started stammering about trip charges and tax so I asked for an itemized invoice. He looked at me and said he had to call the office. I found it strange that this seemed to be an unusual request. I received the invoice 30 minutes later and was charged for 3.25 hours.I asked why and he said I have to pay for his travel time (that is understandable) but its charged at $115 per hour from when he's dispatched to when he arrives. So however long it takes them to drive, I pay for at a tech's rate. That doesn't seem reasonable. Tech said I had to pay for gas. okayyyI called the office and they said I had to talk to Brad. Brad called me and said they use GPS and the tech was at my house almost 3hours plus 30 minutes travel time. I told him that 30 minutes of that was trying to get an invoice.Brad took of the .25 overcharge. I was also charged $18 for a bead of silicone ("material") and the technical took the valve he removed and I had to get that back. Not a great experience with unclear billing. Travel time is a money grab if its from wherever he's coming from (I don't have an issue with travel costs, but pay $115/hr (plus tax) not reasonable.Quality of work was ok except for tech breaking a part and then telling me I had to pay to fix it.If I need additional work, I will use someone else who is more clear on what their charges are.
You couldn’t ask for a more caring company than these guys! Dustin was very compassionate about our issue and sent out a team to evaluate the situation. Big Mike and Issac were both professional and through thru out the installation process of our water heaters!Thank you! BTW.. all the staff at Brown Brothers are all so caring and professional!
Luke did a fantastic job removing an unused radiator. Very meticulous and skilled. Happy with the work done.I did have to work much harder than I felt I should have to get the initial estimate completed (not Luke) and I feel what I ended up paying was 50% higher than it should have been. $2900 for 8 hours of labor and no new parts seems very over priced.
