Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with these folks. I've tried reaching out for a few months to see if we could resolve the issues, but have not received a single response. We hired United to do the plumbing for a small cottage in our backyard. At the beginning we really liked the guy that was heading up our project (John possibly?), but then small mistakes started cropping up - for example, a drain pipe set three inches in the wrong direction prior to pouring the foundation which required us to change the framing plan and affected the layout of two different rooms. Then, long stretches between the crew's visits without any communication. I'd call or text saying we were ready for them to come out, or ask what the holdup was, and get a vague answer or none at all. There were a few times when I asked about things I noticed were wrong or off and never got straight answers or an offer to fix them. For example, no drain was put in for the toilet (I asked about this a few times) and a main cleanout was put right in front of the front door. Finally, after two months of zero communication (after a total of six months working with them), I called and let them know we were going to hire someone else. I was kind about it. The new plumbers confirmed the issues I had noticed, ended up having to jackhammer the floor to fix them, and brought up other issues that United should have seen and discussed with us. We had to spend roughly $3000-4000 to undo and fix the issues. Had United done a good job from the beginning and more thoroughly investigated our system and lot, we honestly might not have ever moved forward with the project. My intention in reaching out was to discuss the situation with the owner, who I'm not sure was even aware of all that went on, and see if we could seek a partial refund on the work, but after several calls and texts, I've heard nothing back. If someone from United sees this message, I'm happy to discuss further and edit my review accordingly! I see your good reviews and don't think this is the norm for your work.
I appreciate that keeping of the appointment as scheduled but I thought I would get a report sooner.....I'm not saying I should have. My report came in the invoice, which is fine, I just didn't know that is how it was to be reported. Next time, barring an emergency, I will have differenct expectations.
Took about a month too long. Poor communication and I took time off work for them to be there when they said they would - only for them not to show up. I had to be the one calling the office over again to know when work would be done. I had to spot out all things I saw wrong. Messy work. My toilet was left scratched up on top from tools I’m guessing. Lots of dust and rust left behind that it stained my toilet and I had to clean. One wall of the new shower was installed crooked (later fixed by owner)…Hole was cut too big through fiber glass and was patched with caulking. I had originally asked for all tile to be taken down and tile was left behind the toilet. From the tile that was taken down the tile behind the toilet was caved in and cracked. Also being crack was made on another wall which ended up on other side of the wall in bedroom. Drain PCV was not caulked in inside so it left room for hair and stuff to get caught. I talked to the owner and he resolved these issues as best as he could. Not sure if this was a one off situation but this was also the first time I have ever hired a plumbing company on my first home for a shower install. It’s been almost 2 weeks a since work has been done. Still finding things wrong like places that were not caulked enough.
John came to give me an estimate for a possible lining of my plumbing pipes. He is a professional and honest person who took the time to explain everything clearly and offer several solutions to my problem. I had a very bad experience with another company a week ago — they hydro-cleaned my pipes but didn’t perform the proper work, quoted incorrect tasks, and overcharged me.John, on the other hand, provided a thorough and transparent assessment. At the end of his visit, he even gave me a flash drive containing a complete video of the camera inspection, showing my system foot by foot.Highly recommended — ask for John!
John was my service tech today. He was very attentive to my needs, completed the service in a very reasonable time, and the quality of his work is excellent. I highly recommend United Plumbing and John!
