Recent reviews show mixed experiences, with some customers citing past reliability but reporting declines in responsiveness this season. Common themes include scheduling delays, communication gaps after service visits, and disputes over pricing for openings/closings. Several reviewers mention issues with follow-up on green water and occasional on-site mishaps, while others previously noted efficient weekly service.
This company was great for the first few years we used them. On time weekly services and efficient work. This year, they charged us almost $600 dollars ($290) of which was labor to open the pool and it stayed green for almost 2 weeks. The did not come back the next week to check. After calling 4-5 times, they agreed to come back, ultimately treating our neighbors pool two doors down. They did not seem to realize what a big deal this was. The pool has been cloudy and unusable for the enitre summer. DEFINITELY DO NOT use this company.
We used this company for weekly pool maintenance for several years. At first I would have given them 5 stars. They were efficient, reliable and our pool looked great. This year they opened our pool almost two months ago and it has not been clear and properly balanced one time. They left it green and swamp like for over three weeks after we called many times and then treated our neighbor’s pool three doors down by mistake (carelessness). When we called them about it they had no remorse at all. Our pool has been unusable for the first two months of summer now. I absolutely would not recommend them to anyone.
We have used Don Marcum to close our pool the past three years and have seen an increase in their closing costs even though the job itself hasn't changed. It started at $280 in 2023, $360 in 2024 and then this year $576!! Needless to say, I am disgusted at the $216 increase and will be finding someone else to close my pool!
Do not use this company. In our first season of basic pool maintenance, they cracked the tile that covers our skimmer baskets, broke the doorknob to the pool storage closet in half, and spilled blue epoxy on our driveway that left a permanent stain. It would almost be comical how many issues we have if it hadn’t resulted in actual property damage. Repairs were attempted but the tile cover is not properly affixed anymore and the opening they drilled is the wrong size. (And this is after I did the work myself to source a new tile from the manufacturer.) I’ve requested a call from the owner twice after this final epoxy incident, both times I’ve been told he’s on vacation and will call back. Surprise: I never received a call back. In addition to the property damage, they did not manage the water levels and we had persistent issues with the skimmers that were never addressed. We also had issues at closing when trying to close only the pool and not the hot tub, something we’ve done every other year without issue. If you’re researching companies, seriously, keep looking!!
Called in May to ask if we could have someone out to look at a small leak in our pump motor. Was told it may be a few weeks. No calls, no one comes out. Called a few days before Memorial Day because it had been several weeks, and was told they'd be out right after the holiday. Again, no calls and no one comes out. We ended up having someone else look at it. They JUST called today (July 12th, a full 2 months later) and asked if we still need them. Don't know very many people who would still give them their business. I would avoid them at all costs!
