Recent reviews often highlight successful outcomes when paired with experienced installers and note responsive follow-up from company representatives on repair or finish concerns. Several customers mention smooth projects and no issues after installation, while others describe delays or the need for multiple visits to resolve finish problems. Communication from specific technicians is praised, and there are mixed experiences regarding stain or surface remediation.

I had a local installer put my pool in and was rough with the pool. SanJuan stepped up took care of the repairs. I had a couple of visits...different techs. Lucky is the best he was 200% focused on the repairs and fixed what the last repair guy mistakes. He has the work ethic of the Silent generation. Definitely if I ever move and put a pool in San Juan has my business. Just need to make sure you get an experienced installer.

Chris Johnson on San Juan Fiberglass Pools

We had our pool installed in 2022 by a reputable pool contractor. They only use San Juan Pools, which was exsctly what we were looking to be put in. Between San Jaun Pools and the contractor, everything went smoothly! The pool works great and we have had no issues. I highly recommend San Juan Pools. Make sure you find a reputable installer that knows how to install San Jaun Pools.

I don't recommend getting a pool from San Juan. In late 2022, I had a pool installed by American Pool Builders. When the installation was completed, there was metal staining at the deep end of the pool. I contacted San Juan, and they were able to provide some documentation to help eliminate the stain. This was very helpful and I was grateful for it. After the stain was removed, a large, light colored spot was left, and it had a texture. This is weird since the rest of the pool was smooth to the touch. There was also a dark outline of little black dots around the area of previous staining. At this point, it had been less than a year since the pool was completed. I get my pool chemicals checked at the store once a week, and a mid-week check with my test kit, so I was confident my chemicals were balanced. I even met with their water chemist, and he didn't see an issue with the water chemistry. Once the water was warm enough, I dove down to the light colored area and the black dots met. There was a piece of material that was separating and was able to easily flake off. I compared it against a portion that was cut out during construction, and it was the same color. At this point, I contacted the warranty department, and they sent out a technician in August/September of 2023. The technician looked at it and confirmed this was a problem, most likely from the end process of the manufacturing, and needed to be buffed out and potentially reapply the gel coat. I even got an email from the warranty department confirming that they are going to repair this issue at the end of the year, when the technicians are back in Florida. While trying to schedule with my pool builder to drain the pool, he convinced them that he would take care of the problem himself. The warranty department said that if the builder couldn't fix it, then they would move forward with having a technician repair it. The builder showed up once at the beginning of 2024, threw in some chemicals, and never came back. He told me that he would never drain a pool and completely ignored the issue. The builder has ignored all calls and messages ever since. Fast forward to October 2024, after giving up on getting in contact with my builder, I messaged the warranty department about moving forward with the technician. They wanted the warranty manager to come out to reinspect, even though a technician had already come out a year before. They sent another technician out and had the manager on video chat. He said that flaking and texture were most likely from a calcium buildup, and I should get a towel to rub the texture off. I brought up the dark spots, most likely from osmosis issues, and it was just waved off as a water chemisty issue. At this point, I was so frustrated with the run-around I received and gave up trying to get my pool fixed. I'm local to the main office and got a fiberglass pool specifically from San Juan so I could support a local company and for the ease of maintenance, but now all I have is regret and frustration.

Tammie Jansen on San Juan Fiberglass Pools

The installation of our Huntington Beach model was completed in Oct 2022 and there were some issues with the finish. It took a lot of time but we were finally put in touch with Andy, a San Juan rep. We filled out the simple work order and got it to Andy on Tuesday and by Friday Matt showed up to perform the repairs. Matt arrived when he said he would, and was super friendly, courteous, professional, and came across very knowledgeable. Matt addressed all of our concerns and questions patiently and thoroughly. The pool finally feels complete and looks beautiful. We truly appreciate the very quick turn-around by San Juan Pools!! :)

Kendra Hamilton on San Juan Fiberglass Pools

I did a ton of research on pool products and pool companies. I spoke with current customers from various companies, and even unofficially interviewed the installers in person, prior to settling on Poolscapes of Charlotte with a San Juan Fiberglass Pool. That research paid off! I did a separate review for Poolscapes of Charlotte in case you are in the Carolinas, but in short, I highly recommend them! The pool delivery and installation were very smooth. My friend has a San Juan Pool and she has had hers for over a decade. She lives near the coast of SC and the pool has been through multiple hurricanes. So, I asked her before I decided on a manufacturer what issues she's had. "Zero" was her answer. I had a tight budget, but felt like if I was going to spend money on a pool, I wanted to buy quality to last. Once I dug into all of of the construction procedures of the various manufacturers, I found there were only a few that I felt were really built to last. My friend's review solidified my belief that San Juan was a top notch manufacturer. While things can change over time, I can tell you that the pool that arrived at my house 4 months ago looked as high quality as I expected. It's simply beautiful. The sparkle is stunning and the quality craftsmanship is evident! There was a small slight crack in the gel coat that looked like it possibly flexed and occurred during transportation, but the project manager took a close look at it and said it will be fine for now, but took some pictures and said he'd file it with the factory. He explained that San Juan has a truck that will travel around the country and fix small issues like this onsite. I have no doubt that will be addressed. The professionalism of the installer coupled with the high quality of the San Juan Venetian Pool I received makes a perfect pool package. I HIGHLY recommend them both. If you are going to spend money on a pool, spend it on quality! I believe if you get a San Juan Pool, you won't regret it!

Frequently Asked Questions

Most homeowners work with an independent local installer who purchases the shell and manages excavation, permits, and setup. San Juan focuses on manufacturing the pool and supporting documentation while helping connect you to installers familiar with their products.

Timelines vary by site conditions and permitting, but fiberglass projects are often faster than concrete builds once the shell arrives. Your installer can provide a schedule for excavation, set, plumbing, and start-up specific to your yard.

Fiberglass surfaces are smooth and can reduce brushing effort and help limit algae adherence. You’ll still need standard water chemistry balancing, filtration, and periodic cleaning as recommended in the product care guide.

If concerns arise, contact your installer first for assessment. San Juan may provide product documentation and coordinate with authorized technicians when the issue relates to the shell or finish; scope depends on your situation and product terms.

Start with yard measurements, desired swimming activities, and any local setback rules. San Juan’s catalog includes compact, family, and lap-friendly options, and the team can suggest models that fit your space and preferred features.
