The Pool and Spa Experts are, as the name would imply...EXPERTS! What they did on my property was nothing short of amazing. Every member of the crew from planning and design to excavation to shotcrete to plaster and coping and pool equipment installation was truly a master at their part of a very large and complex project. Always respectful of our property and our animals, they never hurried to "get the job done" to get paid and leave. What I learned is that a pool has to be perfect. Precision is part of every step...because gravity and water are two physical constants that cannot be overlooked and are 100% unforgiving. So an 18' x 40' pool cannot be "thrown together" without a lot of planning and perfect execution. Now that our pool is done and we are enjoying it, we call our pool "the most beautiful pool in the world". It is truly an amazing addition to our property. If we were to need another pool at another time I would make only one phone call...to The Pool and Spa Experts without hesitation.

This review has been a long time coming. I finally decided to write a review since Tim asked. And I will give you my honest experience.

We decided during COVID that we wanted a pool. We met with John Herr in about September of 2021 and did not meet with any other pool companies. Some were not scheduling new work because they were so backed up during Covid and others looked to be so new to the area or the pool building business that I didn’t trust them.

We contracted with Reardon in September of 2021 for a small pool in the city. The deciding factors were based on:

1. John’s attentiveness and great communication, their professional headquarters (visit their offices they are not a fly by night building out of the back of the truck company.)

2. The fact that they have decades of experience building in Denver and have built 1000’s of pools.

3. My husband specifically wanted a swim system called a fastlane which is built by endless pools. John said they could install it if we bought it.

From our contracted date we had an estimate of an April/May 2022 start date as long as all the permitting etc went okay. We were okay with this. And John said if all went well we’d be swimming by Labor Day (early September 2022)

Something to understand with Reardon is that they do not do any electrical, gas, ground prep, decking, landscaping, or anything around the pool. No drainage, no backfill, nothing.

They do design work, submit to county for permitting and approvals, dig, rebar, plumbing, shotcrete, equipment, coping and will not do final plaster and fill until decking around pool is done. (By another company)

You essentially have to act as general contractor and it is in your interest to use their recommended electrician and gas contractors but they are not responsible for them. (I loved both the electrician and the gas people they recommended.)

We had our own landscaping company do all the drainage and decking (pavers and patio work around the Pool.) our landscapers put in French drains and made sure everything was set up for runoff rain and snow melt.

We also had the added bonus of needing to move our sewer line and ultimately had to replace it from house to city tap. (Nothing to do with Reardon on the front end other than it slowed them from being able to initially start.) our dig started first week of June 2022. Just about on time. I was still hopeful we would be done by September.

While there are many stages and communication wasn’t always the best, the work they did and all their contractors were professional and well done. Some things to understand is at any given time especially during Covid Reardon has 40-60 personal and commercial pools under construction. They do know what they are doing. They are not fly by night. And I never had any worries the job would not get done. They had to wait for our landscapers to finish the decking and drainage in order to do the final plaster and fill. This was done in October 2022 only a month and a half past the original estimated completion date. Again because of the scheduling of our landscapers. (WHO WE LOVE! Art of the Yard)

We did not upgrade a lot other than auto cover and some mosaics. We have white plaster.

The most stressful thing was their change in direction about installing the swim system. We had to find someone else to install it. Not easy with only one certified tech in Denver area.

This summer we had an issue with our equipment sinking - they coordinated with our sewer company and came out and fixed their side of things. They were fast and communicative. We love Tim the project manager and John The designer and sales person.

At times communication wasn’t fast and that can be stressful when making a large investment, but timing and quality were very good. And they really do mean well. If I could give them 4.5 I would. There is room for improvement on the project communication side. But overall they have been great to work with. And when you read all the problems with other pool companies across the country. They are great.
