I hate to leave a bad review but I'm pretty miffed. I used East LB Pool and Spa to replace my old DE filter and pump. They switched me over to a cartridge filter and explained they don't filter as finely. Ok. So when I go to clean my filthy pool (they quoted like $1300 for a drain/cleaning) I'm not TOTALLY surprised when the jets are kicking back junk. The cartridges filter less right? When I finally get to draining and cleaning the pool (a $100 diy project if you don't already have a submersible pump, charging $1000+ is crazy) myself and cleaning the gunk from the new cartridge filter... I come to find the intake from the pool wasn't properly connected to the upper manifold and that's why I was getting so much blow back into the pool when vaccing algae. I was wondering why the psi didn't significantly go up!Makes me wonder if this was just an innocent mistake or a way to take advantage of an unsavvy pool owner. The installers were cool and did a little extra unexpected electrical work for the heater at no cost, so I'd like to assume it was an oversight or possibly a mistake on my part somehow, but it bugging the crap out of me since I discovered it.Also annoyed I wasn't recommended/offered a filter with a bypass valve or something. I guess it's more motivation to not let the pool get dirty, but how do you see someone w a green murky pool and offer them a system w out some kind of vac to waste option?Both these critical oversights bring me here to leave this 1 star review.
I had an excellent experience with East Long Beach Pool and Spa, and especially with Mario.Mario just installed a new Pentair Intelliflo3 VSF 3 HP pump for my koi pond, and the entire process was outstanding from start to finish. He took the time to explain all of my options, discussed the pros and cons of different pump sizes, and clearly outlined how he planned to do the installation.I was admittedly a bit indecisive about which pump to choose, and Mario was incredibly patient, never rushing me or making me feel pressured. His knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail really stood out.I truly felt that Mario and East Long Beach Pool and Spa went above and beyond on this project. The installation was clean, well thought out, and done exactly as promised. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for quality pool or pond equipment work.
