Choosing D. F. Hughes Design |Build for our renovation was the BEST decision that we could imagine. From the initial consult through the final walk through, our project was handled with professionalism, compassion, support and accuracy. We were impressed with their specific process that guided us through every step.
The team began by carefully listening to our needs and desires, by answering our many questions and by encouraging us to express our concerns. The design process was amazing. We had so much help from the design team as they incorporated our ideas, made suggestions and showed us examples of products. The first pictures we saw said to us that they heard every word we said!
Another step involved meeting with the different people who would be doing the work. We were immediately impressed by their positive attitudes and by their sense of working together. It felt like the Hughes family.
We received a very specific daily/weekly schedule of the work before it began. All through the work process, these people were prompt, polite, professional, honest and very much interested in doing the best work possible. They were never too busy to answer our questions. These workers constantly had Hughes Team supervisors following the work and reviewing every step.
From the beginning. the design team assisted us with every item needed. They explained the pros and cons of the products, answered our questions and helped us make choices that both pleased us and produced a lovely finished project
The entire Hughes team was very concerned about our understanding each step of the process. They answered our questions, addressed our concerns and provided support throughout the project.
The last day also included a cleaning team to remove the construction dust and dirt.
This entire team can be defined by the details of the planning process, their knowledge of design and construction, the accuracy and the attention to detail of their work, and their expression of genuine care and concern for our satisfaction.
Let me say thank you to everyone involved in this remodel. You were so nice to us. We are very pleased with our new spaces!

This remodel included a full Master Bathroom redesign and build, new Master Closet floor and painting, Master Bedroom flooring and painting and new tile for an upstairs bathroom.

We cannot say enough great things about DF Hughes. This was our first-ever home remodel, a full basement buildout (living space, kitchenette, and full bath) and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish.

The team’s open and frequent communication immediately set them apart. Johnny and Tyler, our project supervisors, were outstanding—knowledgeable, proactive, and always one step ahead. They consistently thought through details before we even had to ask, which made the process smooth and stress-free.

On the design side, Nicole, the principal designer, and Alexis, the design manager, did an incredible job translating our needs and desires into a space we truly love. They were attentive, thoughtful, and patient throughout the process, helping guide us through decisions with confidence.

A huge thank-you to Hilbert and his work crew for their exceptional craftsmanship. Their work was high quality, thorough, and professional, and they were always respectful of our home and space, especially important since one of us was working from home during the remodel. The crew was friendly, considerate, and took great pride in their work.

It’s also clear that the company culture starts at the top. Darrell Hughes, the president, leads a team that genuinely cares about their clients and stands behind their work. Most importantly, DF Hughes earned our trust, something that means everything when you’re remodeling your home for the first time.

They were timely, forward-thinking, attentive to detail, and truly worked to meet both our needs and desires. We are thrilled with the result and will absolutely be using DF Hughes again in the near future for our kitchen and master bath remodel.

We have used D. F. Hughes for 2 home projects. They did an attic build out adding additional bedrooms to our home and a master bathroom update. They did amazing work and we are very pleased. They communicated every step of the way. They were very respectful of our space and cleaned up the area daily when leaving for the day. If I ever had a concern, they addressed it and made sure we were happy. They are a great team to work with and I would highly recommend them.

I cannot say enough great things about DF Hughes! They were incredible to work with from start to finish and even followed up after. I came to them with an idea to turn an unused living space into a kitchen and Nicole and Alexis helped come up with a beautiful design and worked with me on picking out every detail. Once the actual construction began, Johnny was incredibly transparent and gave us daily updates on progress. The entire process was seamless and even finished ahead of schedule. Not to mention the kitchen turned out beautiful and way better than I ever could have imagined. I would recommend them to anyone and plan to use them for any future renovations.

D.F. Hughes is the absolute best!! I have done several remodels and this has hands down been the best experience ever!!
The craftsmanship is beautiful and most of all the staff was great to work with. That includes EVERYONE.
My project manager, Johnny, was amazing and went above and beyond in responding to concerns (even on weekends/after hours) as well as keeping me informed daily/weekly on the project. I am thankful to have worked with D.F. Hughes and know others will be too.
