SCS Building & Remodeling

This past spring, SCS Building and Remodeling completed a large screen porch to replace the deck on the back of our house. They were very easy to work with and receptive to any ideas or changes. They’re honest and meticulous and obviously take great pride in their workmanship. The screen porch is beautiful, and we use it almost every day. We also had them repair our front screen door, and last week a crew did a great job repairing a leak in our garage roof. They arrived on time and finished the job in a timely manner. Several years ago, they repaired some drywall water damage in our basement. We would definitely recommend SCS to anyone considering any building or remodeling projects.

I first hired Brent Sorenson shortly after he started his company, SCS. At the time I think he was the owner and the sole employee. Over the years I have returned to Brent for small and large jobs including a fireplace surround, vinyl plank flooring, replacement of an old deck with a screen room, and finishing of a basement room. These were all in our previous house. In out current house he and his crew finished the entire basement consisting of three more rooms and a full bathroom, installation of a storm door, built a screen room and installed a privacy panel to the back of the house, and added a door between the master bath and closet. In addition, his team helped with small things that would’ve been difficult for us, such as tasks that would require a very tall ladder, or tools we don’t own. Everyone on the team is extremely pleasant to work with, they communicate very well, were very thoughtful of keeping our house as tidy as possible during the project, and making sure our cats stayed safe. They even suggested a couple of kitty doors and special screening for our porch which our cats could not easily damage. We are always impressed with the quality of their work and the products that they choose. We joke with them that we continue to look for new projects for them so that they are here all the time because they make the construction process so comfortable.

We had a fantastic experience working with SCS Building and Repair. Their communication was excellent from start to finish—clear, timely, and always professional. The crew on-site was hardworking, respectful, and efficient. This was a big job - they had to come, tear out all of the flooring of our entire lower level, cut out a foot of drywall and studs and prep it for new drain tile done by another company, then when that was finished, they came back to replace the drywall and studs and lay all new flooring. The timing was smooth and efficient and the two companies worked well together, requesting additional meetings to make sure everyone was on the same page. As a nonprofit, we deeply appreciated that they provided us with a fair quote and even went above and beyond by including several extras to make sure we could get back to full operations quickly and smoothly. It’s clear that SCS truly cares about the people and communities they serve. Highly recommend them for any repair or construction needs—reliable, honest, and just all-around great to work with!

We hired SCS Building & Remodeling to repair a backsplash that was badly damaged by a stone installer. They also retiled an area that was exposed after we replaced the microwave. I thought this was a tricky job because of cutting out drywall in strips and fitting in replacement vintage tiles that were not the same exact size as the existing tile. The techs Gabe and Carlos did an outstanding job, far exceeding my expectations! I can hardly believe how good it looks. The backsplash is now the best feature in the kitchen. No one could tell it was a repair job. I would definitely use SCS again.

Replaced our porch's combination screens with double pane windows and a screen door for an insulated steel exterior door. My 3 season porch became a very nice, warm insulated year-round space. We love the work quality and staff efficiency of SCS! Reasonably priced, too.
