The PM and Office Manager, Eric and Jill, were educational and helpful throughout the entire process, which included a full R&R of shingles, gutters, and downspouts. It looks fantastic. Highly recommend this company!
I had an excellent experience with Jansen Roofing. The company provided a clear, detailed quote for both materials and professional installation, and their pricing was better than all the other companies I compared. Their representative, Tom, was outstanding—responsive, courteous, and patient. He took the time to explain every step of the process and answered all of my questions thoroughly. From start to finish, the service was professional and reassuring. I highly recommend Jansen Roofing for anyone looking for quality work, fair pricing, and exceptional customer service.
I had more than five bids and Jansen roofing and repair was one of the less expensive ones. They did an extremely competent job and cleanup afterward. I’m very happy with their results.
Jansen Roofing was very professional in all aspects of getting our new roof. We had to replace our entire roof as well as skylights. The job was completed on time and the cleanup was done in a timely manner and done well. We would definitely recommend Jansen Roofing to anyone looking to repair or replace a roof.
Our previous roof was only 5 years old and the details were not done correctly. We were already getting some leaks at a few spots. It’s hard to know on the front end if a sub contractor is a detail-oriented service.I doubt that Jansen has a keen attention to detail. We have a complex roof with a gambrel style profile and four dormers. There are 16 spots where 4 roof planes intersect. These are the most critical spots to get every detail correct, or there will leaks. Additionally, the junction between the upper pitch and steeper middle pitch is important to get the detailing correct. The previous roofers used drip edge at that spot and that was incorrect. The upper shingles were cupped, holding water, allowing water to infiltrate under the shingles.Jansen was planning on doing it the same way, but they were going to open up the angle of the drip edge to match the angle of the two roof pitches.I said we’re not going to do that. I had a local sheet metal service custom make some angled pieces with 6” legs on each side to handle that detail. That worked fine but they used 1” nails to attach (too short).I also specified an additional layer of cdx plywood. They showed up the day of the project with a pallet of osb. Again, not the best plan. I made them take that back and get the specified material…though they tried to convince me that osb is superior. They also showed up with the wrong color drip edge. Again, I specified black and they did correct that.On one run of flashing, they could have used two pieces (I had enough on site to only have one seam per section), but they ran 3 pieces, the last piece was about 12” long. That’s poor craftsmanship. There was one spot in the middle of the roof where a nail had backed out and had cupped an overlying shingle. I repaired that. It’s a good thing we specified the highest quality shingles, otherwise that nail would have probably worked its way through that overlying shingle. There were several shingles that were damaged during installation, some of which were detailed with roofing caulk. When they removed the gutters (68’ long, half round profile), they were very cavalier about it and kinked a section.I detailed the counter flashing around the dormers. I riveted the corners. They ripped out several rivets so I had to go back and correct that. They used 1” nails to attach flashing. A year out, and at least two dozen nails have pulled out. I replaced with neoprene gasket roofing screws. It’s a good thing I took vacation days from work while they were here so that some of these details were done correctly.Even though they regularly do roofs, I doubt they have a high attention to detail. To be fair, the job was very complex. On a simple roof elevation, they can probably do an average/decent job.But I’ll not have them back for any jobs for me.
