I wanted to provide feedback regarding my recent experience while attempting to obtain a roofing proposal from Stout Roofing for my manufactured home in Moapa Valley.

Initially, I appreciated the responsiveness from Meg and the preliminary discussions with Les regarding both Owens Corning shingles and a standing seam metal roofing option. Les also verbally discussed pricing ranges ($9K-$11K)and appeared knowledgeable regarding roofing systems generally. During our conversations, I was also advised that additional details and specifications would ultimately be reflected in the invoice/proposal documentation once the project moved forward. Additionally, the initial inspection and discussions regarding the roofing project were conducted primarily from the ground level, and no full roof walk or rooftop inspection was performed prior to the preliminary pricing discussions and recommendations.

However, after I submitted a detailed follow-up email requesting a formal written proposal addressing materials, installation methods, low-slope roofing requirements, underlayment systems, permits, ventilation considerations, warranty details, change-order procedures, and related project specifications, the process appeared to deteriorate.

Approximately 10 days later, Les contacted me and explained that he did not have the time to prepare the type of detailed proposal I was requesting. During the conversation, he repeatedly referenced having done roofing work for approximately 30 years and also referenced the company doing tens of millions of dollars in business annually, which I understood as an indication that I should rely on the company’s experience and reputation rather than requiring more detailed written documentation. When I explained that I wanted proper documentation for both project clarity and future resale purposes, he stated that he was “going to pass” on the project, and the conversation ended rather abruptly.

I want to be clear that I was not attempting to create unnecessary complications or impose unreasonable demands. My requests were intended to ensure that the scope, materials, installation standards, permit responsibilities, and warranty terms were clearly documented before entering into a substantial roofing contract—particularly given that the project involved a manufactured home with a low-slope roof and potential structural concerns.

I respect that not every contractor operates the same way, and I also understand that some projects may not align with a company’s preferred workflow. However, I felt the interaction shifted from collaborative to dismissive once I requested more detailed written specifications and contractual clarity.

I am providing this feedback because I believe homeowners seeking detailed written documentation and transparent project specifications should still be treated professionally, even if the company ultimately decides not to pursue the project.

Stout Roofing knocked it out of the park for our Solar Project! A few months ago they installed a beautiful stone tile roof for us and we were so impressed that we hired their SOLAR DIVISION, and wow, they didn't disappoint. It made sense to me that you want a roofing company like Stout involved with your Solar Project -- you want solar but also don't want to ruin your roof -- and Stout KNOWS how to do just that. They installed a large solar panel system FAST (the workers stayed until 8pm just to get it wrapped up!), and only days later it was already generating power for our home. Clint was THE MAN to work with on both the roof and solar projects -- he's amazing, and Kirk was phenomenal at nailing down all the solar details and pushing the project through. Not only are these guys are extremely easy to work with, professional, and just genuinely great people -- but the quality of their work is off the charts! I can't recommend them enough!

We had an excellent experience with Stout Roofing.

Unfortunately we had another Roofing company that did an initial repair for us and it was continually leaking and that company wouldn't fix the problem, so we started looking for another company and came across Stout Roofing.

They were quick to come out and inspect the issue and bid a very fair price. We got on the schedule and in about a week they fixed everything and we haven't had any leaks since they came out.

We highly recommend them and were satisfied with the quality of work they provided.
