Really wanted to use them as a local company. I used them over 20 years ago for windows that for the last several years have warped and leaked incredible amounts of air. They had a lifetime warranty. But guess what? George Meyer won't honor it because they went out of business. Am I crazy thinking they're the ones who installed and are responsible, regardless? I can't find anything addressing this situation in the paperwork. And I'm not spending that much money only to potentially deal with this again. Also got no follow-up on the supposed inquiry regarding them honoring the warranty.
I would not recommend working with this company and this is why…..TimTim lied and told me that all of the contractors clock in and out with GM - no subcontractors. This was quickly obvious not to be the case. The siding contractors said that they weren’t surprised and that Tim was not good at communication.RoofingTiming took forever - the roofing was over a week with just two guys. The guys spent a lot of time just sitting and smoking on my roof. There was some curiosity (brought up with the siding company) of why we didn’t have additional eaves added to the roof. We were not offered this option.WindowsWindow - they left rotted sills in when they installed the windows, which later the siding company tried to help with.Garden window was not as shown in the brochure (shown as a white window). It came with bare wood - this is a window that has plants that should go into it. It should have some type of formica or other waterproof covering. When I asked about it, Tim said that the formica would have cost more, but again, didn’t offer it to me. I would have gone that route. He told us to paint it. When we did, the very thin wood veneer bubbled. Tim finally got back to me about the window and told me that if we hadn’t painted the window (like he told us to do), we could have had some formica cut, but since it was now painted it was too late. Again, he told me to paint it.By November 12th we still had not received the replacement window. It was June 6th when I made the complaint about the garden window. They told me it was a special order, but 5 months and still waiting? I guess I should have held off payment until this window was finished to my satisfaction. My bad on that, but the rest has been working with a very non-professional company. We finally were told the new window had arrived - but it came without the formica. The whole reason we had ordered the second window. I asked Tim if we should just not install the new garden window. He said no - we should go ahead because it was much nicer and had better, painted trim. When the installer came - he was confused why I would want to switch the window out too. Tim had lied, again - the new window was exactly the same. The installer at least tried to make our existing window look as good as possible and carefully painted some additional trim. In the end my husband had to go and buy some acrylic and cut and install it himself.SidingOne window near the back of the property - Siding guys said they would replace the sill, but later I saw that they didn’t. They lied. When they were packing up they hit our front lamp post with a ladder, breaking it off. They didn’t tell us about it, and just put it back on the post. I’m assuming so we wouldn’t know it was them. But we saw all this on the door cam. When I called him on it, he said, “Well, I won’t deny it.” But no apologies. The company said they would pay me back for the lamp.Left tons of trash around the yard. I spent 2 hours cleaning up cigarettes, nails, screws and other construction debris.Would not recommend!
We always have great service with George Meyer. Last year we had a new door and 2 storm doors done and are very happy with the whole process and results. This year we decided to have the 11 windows done in our home. Ordered the Pella 250 series triple pane windows, which are very heavy. Most of the windows are oversized and 2 windows weighed nearly 300 pounds each. The sales process went very well and the installers Ken and Lee did an amazing job. The George Meyer team are always professional and do great work. Love our new windows. Highly recommend them.
Had 6 upper floor windows replaced last summer. The sales meeting was very quick with all measurements done right there, then the custom cut windows arrived a few months later. The install itself was super fast, and I was really impressed. The only minor gripes I had were that the window installed in the bathroom went in without proper water sealant caulk, so the caulk started flaking after a month. Also, one window cracked after a very sudden cold snap which was a freak occurrence. However(!!) both items were fixed by George Meyer after I called to talk about them after a few short weeks. The level of customer service on that front was really impressive. I plan to hire them for more work later this year.
Great Work, Competitive PriceThe George Meyer team does great work. They are professional and a pleasure to work with. No high pressure sales. Their team came out to install new bedroom windows and a patio door and did a spectacular job. We had them come out a second time to install a new front door. Will definitely use them again.
