Sy and his crew are excellent and so easy to work with. We live in an old St. Paul house and don’t want modern replacement windows. His window updates have given us the best of both worlds: the character of the old glass with the convenience and warmth of modern. We couldn’t be happier!
We are so deeply impressed by SP windows, and we cannot recommend them enough!! Not only did they respond extremely quickly and show up at our house within HOURS, but they went absolutely above and beyond to fix our rotting window at a very affordable price. Our house was built in 1920, so finding an affordable and professional repair company in the Cities can be a nightmare. SP Windows fixed the underlying problem (deep windowsill rot), repaired the window frame to exactly match the surrounding windows, and did it all in 30 degree weather and snow with no financial surprises. They addressed all of our questions and concerns professionally and graciously, and they settled for nothing less than what my not-so-easy-to-impress husband calls a "fantastic job". They even gave us some very helpful tips on how to prevent future rot in our old house! This company has made old-home-maintainence so much easier and more achievable for us, and we are extremely grateful. Please consider us long-term customers!! Thank you, SP Windows!!
Sy came out the same day I called for a quote on a double casement window in our attic that was leaking badly. We wanted to keep the windows as they are original, and we have future plans to convert the space. We got the flush frame combination, and they look great.
SP Windows is excellent all around! Sy gave us an estimate very quickly and everything was done on or ahead of schedule. We had fifteen storm windows replaced, two full window replacements, and two window repairs. The price was reasonable given the quality and compared to other estimates. These folks truly are craftsmen who care about retaining the character of old homes -- in my case, an almost 100 year old craftsman bungalow. The storm windows look great and are much more functional -- no need to swap windows and screens twice a year! The full window replacements look just like the originals, but are not rotted and actually work. In addition to Sy being exceptionally responsive and friendly, Cody, Pedro, and the rest of the installation team were on-time, friendly, tidy, informative, and a pleasure to have working on our house.
We were considering replacing the original windows on our 1904 home because many of the opening mechanisms didn't work and switching between storms and screens required dangerous ladder work. Fortunately we discovered Sy and the team at SP Carpentry. They rebuilt 25 antique windows for smooth opening, tighter seams, and new locks where needed. Best of all, they installed their replacement storm windows that have integrated screens hidden to keep the original look on the exterior of the house. No more ladder adventures! We saved many thousands of dollars versus new windows and avoided scrapping the finely crafted originals. SP showed a sensitivity to our historic home that we didn't see in other window contractors - even using antique rippled glass to replace a cracked pane. The crew was very polite, project management and cleanup was excellent.
