Ron Rice on Carpet Liquidators

The carpet was very good; the service was very good and so was the installation. However, I was left with an unnecessarily large remnant, meaning I had paid for too much carpet. There was nothing wrong with my original measurements or the original estimate of the amount of carpet needed. However, later the amount of carpet needed and the cost of course was increased, which left me with this large, expensive and useless remnant.

After several missed or delayed appointments from the person who does home consultations, I finally visited the south Seattle showroom to pick out carpeting and arrange installation. I was assisted by Brennan who was super helpful, knowledgeable and personable. He quickly processed my order and since the installation manager did come out to take measurements, the process was the complete opposite of my earlier experience with the home consultant. Do yourself a favor and skip the home consultation and just visit the store. Score for the home consultation which never took place, he should have a backup to send if he can’t make the appointment, a ZERO! Score for Brennan, 10! He was great and I’m glad he assisted me.

The carpet install was great. The install guys were on time and very professional. They were ready to install before I was ready for the installation. No problem setting up a date the was easy to accommodate my schedule. The choices for carpeting were great and I found one that we loved. I have already recommended them to a friend. It fact she is having her carpet installed on Wednesday, October 1st. I would recommend Carpet Liquidators for Carpeting for sure. The pricing was a great value also.

Warning about Carpet Liquidators, Seattle location on 4th Ave across from Costco

Just wanted to give a warning before anyone wants to do business with Carpet Liquidators for specialized work beyond just installing carpet or flooring of any type. This review is an account of a customer experience of Carpet Liquidators and not the poster of the review.
I chose to work with Carpet Liquidators on a project that involved using self-leveling concrete. The scope of work to be done was to resolve a problem with the original floor not being level so someone who is a professional in this line of work was needed
The 1st problem was that the person in charge of the job made a bad mix/pour exiting the front room. This self-leveling lightweight concrete ended up being soft and did not harden. After showing photos to the salesperson and owner of Carpet Liquidators and after calling and telling the main person that does this type of work with this product about the bad pour/mix, he told me to call the manufacturer of the self-leveling concrete which I didn’t feel was my job to do. He did the work and should account for all the responsibilities.
Their bad attitude towards me, the paying customer was very upsetting. Management said the installer will remove and replace the light weigh concrete.
They had to come back and do another pour to make a spot level.
The 2nd problem was that I told the installer I’d like the new vinyl planks that I purchased to run East and West, he told me no, they should run North and South. I consulted with several people who said it didn’t matter which direction it ran; I would end up with the same amount of waste. I decided that I would put on a sealer on the self-leveling concrete myself and not the installer, I told him 6 times I would do this. The installer told me it would take 4 gallons by his calculations, He also suggested that I roll it on North and South then a coat East and West, then North and South again. After hearing his suggestions, I took the time to research the proper way to apply this sealer and it only took 2 gallons. There was a significant cost difference between 2 and 4 gallons for this sealer.
After a few weeks went by I noticed a section by the kitchen had cracked and lifted up ¼ inch. I then called the main installer and told him about what I found and he said that he needed to call his boss. 2 hours later I got a call from their General Manager that the owner of Carpet Liquidators said they will pull off the job because they can’t make me happy. All I wanted was for the job to be done right.
This job went bad due to the poor workmanship that was done by the installer and their bad attitude from their only person that does this kind of work. CL Management says he’s the next best thing to apple pie and they stand behind him even when the job is botched and they try to put the blame on the customer.

The estimate for this job was $3000.00 in the beginning and accelerated to $5000.00 with all the return visits from their installer etc and also with purchasing more material, including vinyl plank flooring. Due to their measurement estimate for the vinyl plank flooring I was left with 5 extra boxes. You have to account for some extra or waste on a job but 5 extra boxes was beyond normal overage. Due to all the issues surrounding my working with Carpet Liquidators I contracted with another installer to install the flooring.
After several in-person visits and several phone conversations with the Salesperson I was refunded some of the balance owing.
I would not recommend Carpet Liquidators to anyone who needs specialized work done. I would seek out another vendor or tradesperson who has more experience, better communication skills and willingness to work with the customer and respect how they want the job done.

Update with photos 12/3/24-Photos show the poor workmanship. Bad pours, not level, not drying, soft, rough not smooth pours, kitchen area cracked and lifted up etc. Review will only allow so many characters but bottom line is to be aware of who does your sub work.

Ruslan M on Carpet Liquidators

Absolutely appalling approach to customer service. Terrible management. During an install on 6/27 an installer from Carpet Liquidators met my concerns regarding the following issues with their install with swearing and promptly leaving the project site after hastily packing up and leaving me with a pile of garbage on site and a half finished install.
Four main issues
1) Lack of carpet in the closet.
2) Said installer broke a toilet and refused to fix it at my suggestion.
3) The brand new linoleum laid in the kitchen has a tear in a location that does not receive sufficient coverage with trim and thus will remain visible.
4)The half finished install.
After contacting Michael Jerrett (Installation Manager) with said concerns, he began deflecting the issues. Stating that was his best installation crew. After repeated attempts to have the Carpet Liquidators fix their mistakes, they agreed to finish the installation on 6/28. When asked what to do regarding the leaking toilet, I was asked to put a bucket under it. Nobody was coming to help or solve the issue. Instead I was provided with a wrong email repeatedly to send the pictures of my concerns to.
On 6/28, Michael Jerrett replied to my email from the correct email that they will not replace the broken toilet and instead asked me to retain the plumber to assess the extent of CL mistake. I was born on a Tuesday, but not last Tuesday. The plumbers charge for a visit, and Carpet Liquidators would have me pay a plumber rather than them doing what is right and fixing their mistake.
My repeated calls and emails asking for them to stand behind their work have been met with further deflections.
However they did send a crew to finish their project on 6/28 but not to address the concerns with broken fixtures or the brand new torn linoleum in the kitchen.
