Looked for a company with 4.5 stars or higher before I even attempted to schedule. The service industry right now should be ashamed of themselves. No one cares about the customer experience anymore. "Elite" garage doors allowed me to book an appointment online. I initially set up appointment for 10-12 today. Received a call at 8:30AM that they needed to bump me. Fine it's Saturday and I can be flexible. Moved from 12-2. Just received call an hour into me waiting that they had a tech call in sick. I did not give them an opportunity for my business and I will not again. Told them to cancel appointment. You obviously make enough money to not need new customers, so modify your website so you can only book one ELITE appointment each day.
I was royally overcharged and, had I shopped around, I would've saved a lot. I included my invoice below to all who're curious.I called them out to replace two springs on a two car garage door that hadn't had maintenance in 15ish years. I liked the repair tech personally and it appears he made the repairs right but I won't know for awhile I suppose. The issue was they were saying this part is broke, that part was old, etc. which seemed believable considering the door's age. Eventually I needed the 'Gold Overhaul' package for a complete overhaul on my garage door's hardware (not the actual opener). I didn't shop around or look at the yelp reviews because it was an emergency situation but wow do I wish I had.Invoice (copied directly from the invoice):1 Gold Overhaul to rebuild door, to include 2 torsion springs, cable pair, end bearing pair, center plate, center bearing, Pair of drums and roller, 3 Year Parts and 90 days Labor Warranty = $2,499.99Labor to preform work to include, Lubrication, adjustment and service of Garage door = $395.95The parts list (they didn't list the prices individually):234 x 1-3/4" x 35" Oil Tempered, High Cycle Torsion Spring (Black) x 2Center Bearing Plate x 12" Nylon, 13-Ball Bearing, Roller w/4" Stem, each x 107' Torsion Cable, Pair x 1Center Bearing x 1400-12 ~ Torsion Drum, Pair x 1E/B ~ End Bearing w/Plate, Pair x 1It's not a scam necessarily since I was the one who stupidly agreed but here are the shady practices:Bundled package pricing - I have no idea how much the warranties ended up being. The labor was also charged separately after already charging a premium bundle and being told 'this includes everything'.Zero-dollar line items - Prevents price comparison. Based on what I'm seeing though even for high-end hardware it shouldn't cost this much.I gave them 3 stars because they did the work, I liked the rep, and I ultimately paid the price, but I feel like a moron for hiring them.
As a single mother with three kids, this service is unacceptable. I was overpriced for the repair of the cables, and when it was repaired afterward it was still having trouble. I call again to have someone look at the garage door and was told I would have to install a new system, which was almost two thousand dollars. I took a look at the garage myself and the problem was the sensor was moved and out of place, so I moved the sensor and it was easily fixed, no system replacement needed. I have no complaints about the first repair, which was about 1.4k, but they overpriced me for a new system and a labor fee, when the person did nothing but stand in my garage talking to me, the door still not fixed. I called the next day saying I was overcharged, and had my cousin who was experienced with garages on the phone with me and the manager, instead of finding a solution she was yelling and cussing me out telling me I was only looking for cheap work. I'm calling BBB for the dispute for payments. I emailed the owner of the business about this situation, but I'm not even sure if they gave me the right email. Ridiculous.
Update to a false response.Elite responded with a 100% false statement which furthers my negative rating. I never requested 100% credit. Total lies and again, no accountability.Yes. It took two years to find out you guys did not give what I requested. It’s not the customers due diligence to research everything your company offers and products you use. You’re the professional. You’re supposed to educate/inform the client. you gave a 100% false statement. Very disappointing. But I expect you will only justify your unprofessional behavior again and again. So happy to say good riddens. BUYER BEWARE!!!New company gave me the best opener and installed for $560. very thankful for a professional product and experience.Original review.Very difficult for me to give a negative review. The management clearly has no accountability to their technicians.2 years I had them install a “best” option as a lay down customer.I recently had the same service from a different company installed on a relatives home out of state. It was less than half the cost, and they also received a digital opener and as the technician today that saw me, said they received one with all the bells and whistles and you did not.The technician that came out today told me there is a model that was better than the one I received with all the bows and whistles, but it was never offered to me. I spoke to the manager and the technician. The technician suggested it was $200 more at the time. The manager said it would’ve been $300 more at the time.I spent almost $3000 so a couple hundred dollars more I would’ve chose the bells and whistles which I made it clear to the technician that did the work that’s what I wanted. The technician that installed the opener for me clearly was not trained appropriately and management would not take accountability for this. They offered me a $700 discount on a $1400 new motor. So after spending $2800 which the bells and whistles would’ve cost me about $3100 they now want to charge me an additional $700 to get the new motor that I should’ve received in the beginning. Why I’m disappointed… I wanted the best and did not receive it but I was told that’s (the best) what I paid forThe manager and the technician that came out today both told me they would’ve also recommended replacing the full garage door, which I wanted to do in the beginning but the technician that did the installation told me “no” I did not need to and that was wasting moneyAt the time I appreciated the education, but when two others tell me that’s what they would’ve recommended. I feel I was shorted with receiving the best option.I like nice things. And I always try to buy the best. The lack of accountability by the manager (Malcolm) for their training and also wanted to charge me $700 for a new motor is absolutely appallingI’ll never use this company again. Simply because of a lack of accountability. If they lack accountability on something as simple as an option. How much more with a lack accountability when they do something wrong for an installDefinitely a buyer bewareHe that cannot be trusted with little, cannot be trusted with a lot100% accountability. 0% excuses.Malcolm is the manager with no accountability
Elite provided excellent service for a hung garage door emergency. I was impressed with their willingness to rearrange their schedule to accommodate my urgency (I was leaving Sedona for six months that night on a red eye to Boston!). And the young man who came to evaluate and repair the door was polite, well spoken and very accomplished. In the end, he rebuilt the panels to temporarily provide a garage “door” while a new one is being built and installed in 3-6 weeks. Not the cheapest solution, but so far Elite Door is the best! Highly recommend them.
