For context, I have a two-car garage with one large door that still functions. The technician checked the balance and said it felt around 25 pounds to lift, but no specific broken parts were identified. I was hoping to start with smaller repairs like replacing springs or rollers.
He also mentioned the opener motor may have experienced extra wear if the door had been heavy in the past, which I understand. However, I would have preferred trying to improve the door balance first and then seeing how the opener performed before replacing everything.
Instead, the options presented were full rebuild packages, with the lowest estimate being over $3,500 and higher options going above $4,000.
