Unfortunately, our experience with Interrante Design-Build did not live up to the many positive reviews that initially drew us in.We hired them to help renovate a mid-century dentist’s office in Kingston, NY into our home. After receiving three quotes ranging from $18,000 to $53,000, we chose Interrante (the highest bid) largely because of their assurance that the project would be completed on schedule while we were abroad, and that we would receive biweekly updates throughout the process.Unfortunately, things quickly went off track. The work didn’t begin until a month and a half after the agreed-upon start date, and the regular updates we were promised — and paid for under a costly “general conditions” fee — were inconsistent or entirely missing. Later, we were informed that the contractor had deviated from the architectural plans, including cutting into structural ceiling joists. That project manager was eventually let go, and an architect was brought in to address the issue — all while we were overseas with limited information.When we returned, expecting a completed home, we were shocked to find the house in poor condition. A bathroom fan was hanging from the ceiling, apparently held together with hot glue. The drywall work throughout the ceiling was substandard — with visible screws and poorly taped seams. We had to request that all ceiling drywall work be completely redone. To their credit, they did bring in a more skilled professional to fix it — but it took another four weeks, during which we had to live in a construction zone with our child, moving room to room amidst dust and sanding.No compensation or real acknowledgment was offered for the disruption or stress we experienced.In summary, I recommend working with a builder who delivers on their promises and communicates transparently. Sadly, that was not our experience with Interrante Design-Build.
Working with Interrante Design-Build has been an amazing & inspiring process - majority of that thanks to their expertise and guidance along the way. They would consistently take our ideas to the next level with the confidence & practicality - something we needed in order to bring our vision to life in a feasible and beautiful way. We would recommend them fully to anyone looking to do a renovation to a full build, I promise they will not disappoint!
Mid Century Ranch Revival - We hired Interrante Design-Build, LLC. to modernize our 1959 mid-century ranch in Kingston, NY. The ask was big — take down 3 walls (one load bearing needing a 27 ft support beam invisibly integrated into our attic space for a flush ceiling) to create a fully open-concept kitchen, dining room, and living space with a seamless integration of existing and new wood floors, AND transform an outdated premier suite, with a complete floor-plan revamp to include a fully enclosed, floor-to-ceiling tiled bath, shower, and steam room — all this while maintaining design appreciation for the house’s mid-century roots. The project included custom design elements, including bespoke, handmade tiles impeccably laid in a complex pattern, an 11-ft+ island with inset for dog bowls, cabinet-ready appliances, custom woodwork, hidden appliance cabinetry, modern brass transitional staircase, and more. Throughout the project, I was able to convey and refine my vision with the help of the IDB team. The magazine-worthy results speak to the team’s excellence and our ability to work together to achieve such quality results. I’m thrilled with the end result!
Over the last 4 years I’ve worked with Interrante Design-Build on a number of projects spanning 2 properties and have always been impressed with the professionalism and quality of work. I have a 200+ year old home so it took a lot for me to trust anyone to do the work and get it right - and I am so happy I put that trust in the IDB team. They exceeded expectations with each project.
