Southern Homes by Dan Wilson

Not sure what’s changed at Dan Wilson homes other than a designer, but we looked at a home in Oakmont on 116th Street facing a shopping center and it didn’t look like a typical Dan Wilson home. Other than the parking lot being an issue, the inside was really odd with selections. I am sure quality is there, but…

We put money down on one of his Southwest homes very early in the building process. We were not allowed to change anything (floor material or color of the walls) although we were told some changes were allowed. After 3 months When the end came near, the walls were pink, the absolute cheapest linoleum tile was installed and the concrete work was 1” thick in an area of the sidewalk. A boot print was also in the dry driveway and The electrical box was placed in the driveway. When I talked with the superintendent of that division, he acknowledged the pink walls but would not change them, would only repair the concrete sidewalk although it needed replacing, said he would not guarantee the repair would last, and said not one would buy the house if they put more expensive flooring down. His condescending comments about it “ONLY” being a $400,000 house was my walking away comment. I have nothing good to say about Dan Wilson’s homes.

We met Dan prior to buying our home. I was grateful he was willing to meet on a Sunday afternoon as I live out of town, and had a limited amount of time. We had a long conversation and by the end of our talk I knew he was a man of his word and knew if I was going to buy a home in Lubbock it would be from Dan Wilson. The process has been seamless and the follow up and follow through from Dan and his team has been nothing like I have ever experienced.! I have always felt I can judge a person's character...this experience has made me feel like an expert in character judgement. I now know I made a great decision as Southern Homes has been a phenomenal company to deal with. I can honestly say, Dan and his team are the most professional and caring home builders that I have done business with, this is our 6th home.
