Ashlee Childress on Coventry Homes - Painted Tree

We built our home with Coventry and love it! We have all the space we need and still have room to grow!

Here's the revised review:

After an exhaustive search that took us through over 25 homes at Painted Tree and visits to more than 7 different builders, we can say without a shadow of a doubt that choosing Coventry Homes was the best decision we ever made. From the very first moment we walked through the door, Brittanie McDonald set herself apart from everyone else we encountered throughout this entire journey. While other builders had us feeling like just another transaction, Brittanie made us feel like family. Her warmth, patience, and genuine enthusiasm for helping us find the right home was something we had never experienced before in any sales environment, real estate or otherwise.

We were thorough buyers. We asked every question imaginable, visited multiple times, and took our time making one of the biggest decisions of our lives. Not once did Brittanie make us feel rushed or pressured. She answered every question with honesty, went above and beyond to walk us through every detail, and truly listened to what we were looking for. Her customer service is simply in a league of its own and made what could have been an overwhelming process feel exciting and joyful from start to finish.

Thanks to Brittanie's guidance and dedication, we found and purchased our perfect home and we could not be more in love with it. We are beyond grateful that we walked into that model home and met her. If you are considering Coventry Homes at Painted Tree, do yourself a favor and ask for Brittanie McDonald specifically. She is a true gem and Coventry Homes is lucky to have her on their team. Thank you Brittanie for helping make our dream a reality!

We recently signed up to build a house in the Painted Tree development in McKinney. We started exploring various options around the middle of 2025 – different areas, builders and home styles. We currently live in Ohio, so we had to perform these evaluations during our visits to Dallas to visit family. It was during one such visit that we met Brittanie and started exploring different Coventry home plans to see which ones met our needs. Brittanie was very helpful in answering questions we had and making suggestions that would help our decision process. She sent us to several completed spec homes to see the plans, options and features firsthand. Sometimes, these homes were in other communities but available for us to see which gave us an excellent idea of the home plans that we would like. She was in touch with us even after we returned to Ohio and kept us updated on the Coventry building activities, availability, latest promotions, etc. She would respond to my questions usually within a couple of minutes and if she did not know the answers, she would get them from the people who would know the answer, no fluff or making up answers on the go. When we were ready, she explained the process of making an offer and made it very easy. She kept us updated on the progress and counter offers and giving input on updates / options that suit our needs. So, here we are, looking forward to our new home which will be ready later this year.
Moving to a new state leaving behind your established life and nice home is stressful but Brittanie ensured that deciding on the house we want to build was easy. During our search we interacted with sales people from other builders too but Brittanie and Coventry Homes plans made us go with them. Even after the offer was accepted, she has been in touch to provide any information we request and answer questions. We recommend Brittanie without any reservations.

I should have never trusted coventry. There were lot of pending items that were promised to be completed once closed. I am following up from 2.5 months without any resolution. Warranty is a joke. They never cared to respond. Build quality is not that great. I thought coventry is a know for its quality craftsmanship but I was wrong. Its not any great than a starter builder. I wish I had an option to backout anyways it’s too late. Definitely not worth the price and we should have chosen other builders in the community.

Edit: I have reached and emailed and waiting for response.

Deeply Disappointed – Poor Quality, No Accountability, and Lost $44,928.50

I’m writing this review to let future homebuyers: working with Coventry Homes has been the most frustrating and financially painful experience of my life. I lost $44,928.50 in deposits due to their poor construction quality, unprofessional conduct, and non-existent customer service — and I strongly urge others to think twice before signing a contract with them.

In July 2024, I signed a contract for a home at 4101 Attwater Street in the Painted Tree community. I trusted their design center and selected Bilco Phoenix White brick with white mortar based on samples and manufacturer images. What was actually installed on my home was completely different — the brick had heavy gray blotches and patchy discoloration, and the mortar was uneven and mismatched in color. It looked nothing like what was promised and gave the home an unfinished, careless appearance.

When I raised concerns, I was met with silence and deflection. There was no proper escalation process, no construction management to talk to, and no accountability. All communication went through a sales rep who was often unresponsive or dismissive. I submitted clear photo evidence and even pointed to nearby homes with the correct brick for comparison — still, Coventry refused to take any responsibility, stating the work was "within standards."

After weeks of trying to get a resolution, I was pressured to cancel the contract. Coventry kept every penny of my earnest money and design center deposits — a total loss of $44,928.50. They have since relisted the same house with the same defective brick and mortar, pretending nothing is wrong.

This is not just a construction issue — it’s a complete breakdown of ethics, customer service, and professionalism. Coventry Homes gave me no path to resolution, no consideration for the amount of money lost, and absolutely no accountability for their actions.

If you’re considering Coventry Homes, document everything in writing, don’t rely on verbal assurances, and understand that once you sign, your leverage is gone. They will not stand behind their promises or correct their mistakes.

I regret ever trusting Coventry Homes and hope this honest account helps other buyers avoid the same loss and stress.
