We were introduced to David Glinski, owner of Sunset Custom Homes, by our realtor. Dave looked at the land we were considering, to ensure it was good for our home. We quickly built a relationship and decided to have him do our build. He walked us through every step, from design concept to handing us the keys. His knowledge and networking made the entire process headache free, even through the pandemic.Working with Dave was truly a pleasure. We enjoyed going with him to meet all the designers who helped us choose the perfect house accessories and fixtures. Any little issues that came up were quickly addressed, and Dave made sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. We went into having a custom home built with so much anxiety: Sunset Custom Homes made the entire experience incredibly smooth. Dave exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a local builder.
Dave knows how to build a house. He was the perfect builder for our home. There were building site challenges, a client (me) who wanted to explore all options :), and home details that required creative thinking and installation. He always made himself available to discuss process, progress, concerns, budget, and any issue that came up. He is an excellent project manager and maintained good relationships with his subs and well as with us. We love our home. Thank you Dave.
We met David Glinski, owner of Sunset Custom Homes, approximately 12 years ago when looking for a contractor to build our home for us. He is honest, explained the process, built our home from a picture in a book, and is very thorough. This included multiple levels of the ceiling and roof. So, when we decided to build a steel building that would be our shop, it was totally unfamiliar territory. We purchased the building, 30x52, which is when we found out that we would need someone to assist in putting it up. The company told me we could even erect this ourselves or they would help us find a contractor. NOT. The only contractor that we knew was Dave. I texted him and asked if he knew anyone that would be able to erect this building. He texted back and asked if we had a set of plans. All we had at that time was a sketch of where we wanted the doors.Long story short, we met with Dave. He said he had been thinking about adding steel buildings to his portfolio. As it turns out, Dave took over and when he told us the cost, he also stated we could wait or go ahead with the build. Things were not going to be less expensive, so we decided to move forward.Dave was in touch with the engineers of the steel company, getting permits for everything involved, from the cement to the finished building, from Pima County, and finding quality workers to help complete the build, which sometimes seemed it would never happen since this was during Covid. We are so grateful that Dave was available at the time. The build took about a year to complete with all the complications we had. Delay of permits, materials, covid and workers but Dave persevered. We currently have a beautiful building constructed to perfection thanks to Dave and his attention to detail. We highly recommend Dave for any build you may be considering from customs homes to steel buildings. You will not regret your decision.
SCH built 2 of our homes, first one in 2000 as a semi-custom house in a subdivision. We liked the design of the floor plan and the quality was quite good for the price. But what impressed us the most was that owner of SCH David Glinski appeared to be a man of his words, provided personal attention to every home buyer (he was developing the whole street within the subdivision), and addressed all issues in a timely manner. So when we were planning to build our full-custom home in 2013 we automatically included SCH as one of the few builders that we interviewed. David impressed us again by helping us every step of the way, from lot evaluation to optimizing the design, saving us money on the architect contract, making sure that things on our wish list were provided at reasonable costs, and completed the construction in a reasonable time frame. The rule of you get what you pay for always applies, but our experience with SCH is that David will deliver solid quality and great value within your budget.
Pros: Knowledgeable and Friendly - Cons: Contractors lack experience, professionalism, and work is 2 stars at best. This contractor built our home just 2 years ago and I cant tell you how many repairs I have had to do because of the shoddy workmanship. They hire names that you know but work quality oversight is lacking. Multiple issues with roof, plumbing, electrical, doors (exterior), paint and stucco. Also have had to have HVAC repaired twice. This was not an economy build by any means. Upgrades and charges were abundant but quality was not. But its been 2 years and I seem to have to repair something every month. Contractors were careless during the entire build as well. Not just leaving trash, tools, nails, etc everywhere but damaging property - which is a whole different story in itself....
