?? PREDATORY UPSELLING WARNING TO WEST HARTFORD HOMEOWNERS ??Do not trust a single diagnostic from Harp Home Services without a second opinion. We had Harp come out to service our HVAC units. Incredibly, the technician claimed he "suspected a crack based on the equipment model" before he even touched or inspected our units. He then proceeded to claim that the heat exchangers on BOTH units were failing and required replacement. They quoted us an astronomical $8,000 JUST FOR LABOR, and actively tried to pressure us into replacing our entire HVAC system instead.Because of these high-pressure scare tactics, we immediately brought in a second licensed HVAC company for an independent inspection. Not only did they thoroughly examine both units and confirm they are structurally sound, completely intact, and in perfect working order, but they pointed out that the units were incredibly dirty—despite Harp having just "serviced" them. Harp completely failed to properly clean the system, using the service call purely as a deceptive foot-in-the-door tactic to scam us into an unneeded $8,000 repair or a multi-thousand-dollar system replacement. To make it worse, their office (Kristen) even left us a voicemail following up on the open estimates to try to "help us move forward" with these fraudulent repairs. We are considering moving forward with filing formal consumer trade fraud complaints with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) and the CT Attorney General's Office. Harp relies on premeditated upselling tactics targeting local families while failing to do the actual maintenance work. Check their BBB complaints—this is a documented pattern. Save your money, protect your home, and call a reputable local contractor instead.
