Called Planet Plumbing & Drain about a leak under our kitchen sink and they had Mikey Longwell out quickly. He got a temporary fix in place the same day. While he was here I ran a list past him — items from our home inspection report plus a few things I'd noticed on my own — and he answered every question I had, then quoted each one clearly and efficiently.

He also asked something I hadn't thought to ask: when was the water heater last flushed? We just closed on this house, and the seller's disclosure didn't include a work order or invoice for it, so the honest answer was "probably not recently." Onto the list it went. It was one of the more educational service calls I've had — I came away understanding our own plumbing better than I did before he showed up.

He came back the next day and handled all of it: strainer basket replacement for the permanent leak fix, PRV (pressure reducing valve) replacement, water heater flush, a bathroom sink stopper that wasn't seating right, and a slow drip at a shower head.

That water heater question turned out to be a good one — dark water came out the moment he opened the drain.

The PRV is the other one I keep thinking about. Our home inspector had written down "pressure too high (80 psi)" and left it there — never raised that the valve itself might be the problem. Mikey explained what the valve actually does and why ours needed replacing, instead of just reporting a number.

He also recommended a whole-house smart shutoff valve rather than devices at each individual fixture, which I think is the right approach in principle. The install quote is the one place I'd push back — it felt high for our setup, where the pipes are fully exposed with a power outlet and wifi right there. Holding off on that one for now.

A few weeks later the faucet on that same bathroom sink slowed way down. They sent Richard Ellison out just as fast. Richard is a real veteran — he found a kinked metal supply hose, rounded it back out, and the flow was normal again in minutes. No telling whether it was connected to the earlier stopper work, and it didn't matter to them. He didn't charge us for the visit either — said nothing was actually broken and he'd rather earn the future business. That's a good way to get it.

Two techs, two good visits. Prompt, straightforward, and happy to explain what they're doing. Highly recommend.

I continue to use Planet Plumbing because they’ve consistently been able to clear roots from my sewer line, something other companies told us couldn’t be done without excavating and replacing the entire line. I appreciate their honesty and practical approach. I’ll definitely call them again.
