Customer feedback is mixed. Positive notes mention helpful advice during openings and follow-up visits when issues arose. Critical reviews cite delays in scheduling or communication, concerns about cleanliness during openings, and disputes about workmanship on liner projects. Experiences appear to vary by job scope and timing.

Jill Burton on Richards Pool Care

I was referred to Richards Pool Care by a friend of a family member. I reached out on March 7 when I was told they would come out the next week to assess the leak in my pool, as well as look at the other work that needs to be done on the pool (it’s a big job as I bought the house last year knowing the pool would need work). They finally came out on 3/23 after I contacted them multiple times. Bob, the owner, and Kevin came out and were very nice. They ultimately said that they would try to use their own leak detection equipment to find the leak, but if they couldn’t, they would connect me with a leak detection company. After waiting several weeks, they finally said they couldn’t come to try to find the leak, so they sent me the info on the leak detection company on May 7, whom I contacted immediately, and they promptly came out within about a week; he said he would send the report over to Richard’s. I followed up with Richard’s in about a week, and they said they didn’t get it and to ask them to resend it. The guy from the leak detection company resent it to Bob directly via text the same day (5/29). I checked with them again on 6/5 stating I was having surgery on 6/29 and wondered if they could come out the second week of July to do the repair. I received a response on 6/15 (after reaching out again in the interim) and was told that I was blocked off the 2nd week of July. I contacted them this week since I hadn’t heard when they would be coming out. I received a message yesterday stating that they are busy and they could put me on the schedule for the end of July. I called back, leaving a message (I was very nice as I firmly believe you catch more flies with honey), but I also told them I’m frustrated and not understanding when I was told I would be blocked off the second week of July and now I’m told it’s the end of July. Kevin called me back this morning. We were having a nice conversation, and I told him I was frustrated and just trying to understand when I was told I had an appt the 2nd week of July, why I’m now being told it would be the end of July. Bob ended up taking the phone and yelling at me (and I’m not exaggerating; he was horrible) that I could either take the 2 days he had blocked at the end of July or forget it. I told him (again nicely) that I was just trying to understand why I was told mid-June I would be blocked for 2 days the second week of July, and now I’m being told the end of July. He ended up screaming at me that he doesn’t want to do the work and hung up on me.

While I fully believe they can be nice and do good work based on their other reviews, just know that if they decide you aren’t worth it or it’s a job they don’t want to do (which they don’t tell you), then they will keep putting you off for months and then Bob will treat you horribly and finally tell you they don’t want to do the work. (Kevin did remain nice the entire time.)

Everything sucks. The driver also doesn’t pay attention while driving. Almost hit us and was smiling and laughing at the same time. Maybe he was on the phone while driving and definitely not paying attention. Just happened Sept 29 2025 at 9:00 am
I hope the owner sees this message. It’s very important. Was in Wilmington area I believe.

Solange Reid on Richards Pool Care

I paid almost 500 dollars for them to open up my pool, they left a bunch of dirt and leaves. When they took the cover off they were very careless and let all the dirt and leaves go into the pool. They completely scammed me, when i called to get the job done correctly they wanted to charge me $200. Do not recommend these guys.

If I can give this company a -0 Stars I would!!! They are scammers, disrespectful, and unprofessionally obnoxious! I had them install a new pool liner in March 2023, paid over $5,000 for the service, last year we realized the the liner was coming off the wall. When we opened up the pool this year, the entire liner for my inground pool was completely detached. I called them and Kevin came out to see it and said it was the area, it was excessive rain, and suggested for me to take a plunger to plunge it back into place. A few days later, the pool liner got worst and the entire sides are bubbled up and liner in the pool has more wrinkles in it. I emailed Kevin and he didn't respond. My husband called him and Kevin hung up the phone on him.

Don't use these people!!! They don't back their work and get very agressive with their customers when they are asked to do right by their work!

Steven Holland on Richards Pool Care

We have had an excellent experience with Richards Pool Care. They did a better job opening our pool than the last three companies and provided advice and options on some issues we had going on. More importantly, when we've had a few problems they have come out and fixed them so we could enjoy the pool. We are highly satisfied!
