Our experience with Wicks - notably Justin and Tony was exceptional. They were extremely professional and timely with all of the construction activities in our home. They kept us informed throughout the project and were an absolute pleasure to work with. Engaging a contractor for the first time is stressful because you are unsure how the project will unfold over time. Will you have to chase them to complete the work? Will it be a nightmare? I can without hesitation state that they exceeded my expectations for the quality of work completed and their attention to detail. It has been over 35 years since I have had work completed by a true finish carpenter. I would not hesitate to use them in the future to complete work in our home.
Remodelling of kitchen, bathroom, decks put up outside, painting, crown moldingWe were very happy with the services of Wick’s Contracting. We found the estimates fair and the work progressed at a good pace and with care taken of our home.Any problems were corrected right away and Chad listened to us and did his best to give us exactly what we wanted. I found the teams reliable and everyone we dealt with was considerate and worked very hard. I’d recommend Wicks with no hesitation
Because of a leaky toilet, I had to have extensive work done in my bathroom pretty much renovating the whole thing. I also had the carpet on my stairs removed, revealing hardwood which they refinished and my house painted. I am very pleased with the end result. The bathroom looks great. The stairs are beautiful. The freshly painted house is lovely. The team was very respectful of the space, always leaving it as tidy and functional as possible. Everyone was polite and very accommodating. Chad and the team were great to work with
I took a long time to consider whether or not I should bother with this review. I find it incredibly surprising that all of the reviews are 5 stars. That was not our experience. The renovation started Dec 2022 and ended June 2023. I have attached a few photos that outline only a fraction of what we dealt with. Here are some of the things we experienced:1. No respect for our home. Consistently leaving a mess everywhere, leaving my home unlocked when no one is there, no care taken to protect the other rooms that were not part of the renovation. Leaving debris outside on the ground.2. Washing debris and building materials down my utility sink (which clogged). After some back and forth, I managed to get Wick’s to agree to pay for it to be rectified.3. General lack of knowledge during the renovation process. Specifically when it came to drywall and shower applications. Installing drywall seams at corners of windows and doors, continuously breaking the paper from sinking drywall screws too deep. When I tried to explain this will cause screw pops, I was told that they’ve never had an issue with it. The overall drywall finish!! The really bad pictures I took when Chad said he was almost done, just a few touch ups. The cracks are finished drywall, my bathroom ceiling has anthills all over it from mudded screws that just never got sanded properly.4. I’ll talk about the shower a little bit… this was a nightmare. Zero knowledge of how to properly frame/waterproof a shower. After 3 different installs and tear outs, we said enough and hired a professional tile guy to handle the shower and bathroom floor. I’m happy with my shower and I can trust that it will last because it was done by a professional we hired.I’ll stop here. Even though there is more I could list. In closing:Chad seemed to always say what a customer would want to hear, but it never really reflected in the work performed. We held back payment because there were costs we incurred as a direct result of poor workmanship by Wick’s. There was a long back and forth between Chad and ourselves, about payment because we didn’t feel we should be on the hook for their mistakes. Finally Justin stepped in and said our concerns were justified and he agreed to our final payment. We simply cannot recommend their services to anyone.
I used Wicks Contracting to set up a bathroom and this was my experience:Quote - Out of all the contractors they had the most reasonable Quote.Quality - The work they did was good and it was also looked beautiful.Cleanliness - They always cleaned up after their work and left the place as it was. They would also take off their shoes every time they came into the house.Communication - I appreciated that my phone calls were always answered or returned. Also in case something went off schedule I was informed about the delay.
