Teo Stevens on GreatHouse Remodeling

My wife and I wanted to remodel and expand our terrace level living area. We knew how we wanted to use the space however we didn’t know how we wanted to design it.

We hired GreatHouse Remodelers to help us through this journey.

GreatHouse has a thorough and well established process (start to finish) which is supported by the most caring and thoughtful team of people who are all focused on one thing; Customer Satisfaction. That may sound a bit hokey but we found it to be the reality.

We have built a few houses together. While some couples find this stressful my wife and I truly enjoy managing that process together. A remodel was different though, we just didn’t have a clear idea on getting started. The GH design and pre construction team was most helpful and patient with us. Early collaboration meetings included lots of open discussion and GH brainstorming design suggestions. All the while there was never pressure to get to our final design choices and contracts signed, instead their emphasis was on us being happy no matter how many start overs we needed or how long it took us to find the perfect quartzite slab. Again, the emphasis was on our ultimate satisfaction.

Once we did finalize designs/plans the contract was signed and construction began. Any remodeling job, despite the best of planning and people, will yield some surprises once construction begins. Whether it be hidden construction oddities from the original home builder or material availability due to dynamic government imposed tariffs, they will happen. As soon as they revealed themselves the GH team was busy searching for options/solutions. We did have a number of such surprises, none of which were GH misses or could be foreseen, nevertheless GH never once made us feel like we’d have to settle for quick fix or convenient alternatives. Instead they emphasized our being happy and they would continue pursuing alternative solutions until we were.

A bit about me personally. I have a high but very reasonable standard, this includes service, communication, quality and workmanship. Unfortunately in today’s environment too many times I have to step in and manage communication or quality standards. Once the GH project manager began actual work it wasn’t long before I stopped peaking over his shoulder. My wife would ask me how Zach was doing, knowing me and my standards she was quite surprised when I’d reply “good I guess, I haven’t been checking on him”. My point being I found Zach to be the consummate professional, his skill level and quality standards surpassed all I had hoped for. It was a pleasure seeing his dedication to making us, and himself, happy with the final product.

I mentioned this was terrace level work, this happens to be where our cat spends a lot of his time. Zach became buddies with him, as well as our outside dog. While we were going away on a 4 day trip to the lake I had to find someone to feed the cat as our usual helper was now away at college. In causally chatting with Zach he offered to feed him for us as he would be on-site anyway to continue working the remodel. This is just one example how the GH staff had truly become friends, not just our remodeling contractors.

I mentioned my standards on a range of topics and how Zach easily cleared them. The construction phase was by far the lengthiest and most involved of the entire process so I spent the most time with him. Still, I want to be clear that every member of the GH team also exceeded my hopes in communication, initiative, follow through and general professionalism. GH is large enough to be capably self sufficient throughout the entire process but not so big where you feel like a number, instead you can easily feel a common bond and positive chemistry between every member of the team.

Thanks GH team, we love our remodel!

We have enjoyed our remodel experience - which is saying a lot - with GreatHouse. Even more, we are loving our new space, and we get compliments on it whenever someone comes for a visit! If only we could have done it years ago...

We extended the footprint of our home, pushing out the kitchen, adding a walk-in pantry through their innovative vision, and made numerous additional improvements in the downstairs, along with adding a new outdoor patio space. The team took the time to get to know us, our home, and they way we really live - so there were very few changes to the very first design they presented. The outcome is even better in real life, and the consistent communication and touchpoints along the way kept us happy and excited.

We lived in our home throughout the expansion & remodel, and the team went out of their way to help make that experience as pleasant as possible. (I do not like dust or even a small mess, and they way they kept that contained and cleaned up was impressive even to my high standards.)

They went the extra mile for us. I've recommended them to everyone, and wouldn't hesitate to use GreatHouse again.

The Greathouse team did a fantastic job of remodeling our living room. We had a sunken living room and they were able to raise it to floor level including moving 4 windows and one door. The end result was seamless and they made the hardwoods match perfectly.

They were easy to work with and their communication system worked perfectly. We always had almost immediate responses. Mandy did a great job helping us redesign the fireplace and mantel.

We recommend them highly. Tim, Matt, Rod Chico and the whole team did a fabulous job!

The entire Great House team did an amazing job, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Every aspect of the project was executed superbly...from the creative and innovative plan design supported by software that produces an exact rendering of the finished product, the installation of dust protection materials, the demo and daily clean-up of the job site, the production of highly crafted shelves and other wood products, to the overall installation.

Each person on the team was attentive to details, and were flexible to accommodate last minute tweaks we requested. The use of the Basecamp app provided an excellent way to communicate and ensure we and the entire Great House team were always on the same page.

Tim met with us multiple times to develop a design to meet our needs and also comply with current best practices. The Greathouse crew went the extra mile to customize fireplace mantel, moldings, cabinets, door hardware, and other installations to suit us. Craftsmen arrived when promised and tidied up before leaving. Greathouse went the extra mile to ensure our satisfaction.
