I wanted to take a moment to recognize several members of the America's Home Place team who were wonderful to work with during the construction of 742 Sandfield Road.I helped manage the project on behalf of the owner, so I was involved in much of the communication throughout the build. Since this was our first time going through the home-building process, there was a lot to learn along the way, and I appreciated having people who were willing to answer questions and help us understand what to expect.Tyler Garvin was extremely helpful during the site preparation phase. He took the time to explain what needed to happen before construction could begin and helped us understand the process from the ground up. As someone new to home construction, I found his guidance especially valuable.Heather Entry was wonderful to work with during the design and selection process. She helped keep everything organized and made the many decisions involved feel much more manageable.Christi Mottershead was always helpful whenever we needed assistance. She was responsive, easy to work with, and consistently helped us get answers when we needed them.As construction progressed, Colby Farar did an excellent job keeping everyone informed about the status of the project. His weekly updates were detailed and consistent, and whenever we had questions, he was responsive and professional. I also appreciated that Colby took the time to explain things and share his expertise. That helped us better understand what was happening and what to expect as the project moved forward.The home was completed on schedule, and I am grateful to everyone who helped us along the way. I simply wanted to say thank you to the people who helped guide us through our first build.
My husband and I decided to move back to our hometown. After much research we decided to go with Americas Home Place to build our new custom home. We have been very pleased from design to build. I want to especially brag on our build project manager Michael Kerr. Michael has been extraordinary to work with. He goes above and beyond to communicate every step of the way. He absolutely deserves praise for his ethics, his communication skills, as well as his eye for details. Working with him has been an absolute pleasure we couldn't have asked for a better project manager. I would NEVER partner with AHP, Columbia for a custom build!! The experience at the design center was pleasant. However, I went to an open house today in Chapin, SC with my Agent to get more info from project managers, etc. regarding a floor plan (Southampton A/B) that met my expectations for my new home. The feedback/vibe from Amy was very unprofessional. She explained the plan had made some changes in recent years. However, being that AHP are “supposed” to be custom builders, changes and reasonable modifications on their plan shouldn’t be an issue. I was told by Amy that I would need to get my pre-approval letter FIRST and pay $1500 just for AHP to provide a QUOTE on the estimated cost of the home I wanted. At that point, I was clearly disgusted! She was clearly insinuating that I could not affford it. Was it because of the color of my skin? Nevertheless, I have had 2 custom homes built here in Columbia with TOP name builders whose base price homes are double the amount of the home I was inquiring about. Amy just talked AHP out of a deal. I will gladly take my “black money” back to Schumacher homes! I will also post my experience on social media platforms along with the video of the conversation so that minorities can spend their money where they are appreciated.
Americas Home Place in Columbia SC has been absolutely amazing to work with! From our initial meeting with Heather in the showroom. Her customer service and eye for design was great. Amy listened to our request and made the adjustments to the plans to make sure we had everything we wanted. Christi and Dawns assistance with documents and open communications. Tony’s expertise reviewing the final plan was an extra bonus! He brought things to our attention we wouldn’t have thought about. They walked us through each step of the process. The field team was just as wonderful. Joe with the foundation, Tyler with the framing, to the final stages with Frank! Communication was five star. They kept everything running smooth through the entire process. A shout out to Frank’s attention to detail during the final stages. Our forever home is absolutely perfect! I highly recommend Americas Home Place!
America’s Home Place is a great company to work with. They built a house for my mother and have been outstanding to work with. Their communication through the entire was second to none. The few issues that came up they were on top of and handled it quickly and professionally. From the ladies in the sales area to the project manages and rest of the staff has done a great job. I would highly recommend them to anyone building a home.
