Family Heirlooms broken; Items missing; Furniture damaged. We contracted with Summit Van Lines after having received two other bids and Summit had the lowest bid. Summit Van Lines staff were personable and professional. The Movers were hard-working and fast. Our items were placed in storage at their facility for about two months. Once we closed on our new property, we notified the office and the movers arrived and quickly unloaded. Upon unpacking over the next several weeks, we discovered broken heirlooms, damaged furniture and a couple of missing items. We just attempted to file a claim and were surpised by the questions. What is the weight? Provide receipts etc. What is the weight of an 1882 antique glass pedestal cake plate. This is just an example. We don't have receipts for a ladder purchased years ago and is missing. The same for a very large outdoor pot we chose to bring with us. Missing. Items were damaged such as a kingsize headboard, metal toolbox, stool base etc. We found the claim forms to be a joke and a way to disacknowledge any claim.
Our move with this company started off well. Sammy’s visit was professional, Katie was pleasant to work with, and the moving team, led by Tovaris, worked hard.Unfortunately, the overall experience fell short. Days before the move, they called requesting full payment in advance since I was paying via Zelle. I refused, but it took a lot of back and forth to resolve. On moving day, not all of our belongings were taken because they didn’t fit in the truck, even though I had called ahead about extra items and paid extra to accommodate them. When I asked if they’d return the next day to finish, I was told, “Are you willing to pay more?” despite our fixed rate and extra payment.They were also paid to pack the kitchen, but several drawers and cabinets, including under the sink, were still full. I ended up making four car trips to move what was left behind.I shared this feedback directly with the company. They initially said they’d review and respond, but after multiple follow-ups and over two weeks, I never heard back. It’s one thing to make mistakes, but another not to respond afterward.I do not recommend your move with this company. If you do work with them, get in writing that they’ll move all agreed-upon belongings, even if it requires multiple trips, and don’t let them pressure you into prepayment before service. There are many options out there for your move, and next time, I will use someone else.
Excellent service. They were always on time and well-organized. The workers were very respectful and careful, clearly experienced. The only issue I had was that the time allotted wasn’t enough for my condo, and some items were left unpacked in my previous apartment. I’ll have to travel back to pack a few things, like glassware. Other than that, the delivery went smoothly, and they paid close attention to details regarding where to place my belongings. I’m very grateful to Summit Van Lines.
